Primary one fun!

Another week back in school and we are having so much fun!

In numeracy this week, we have been focusing on sharing items, writing calculations and fractions.

We have also celebrated World book day this week! We listened to Tom Fletcher reading his book ‘There’s an alien in your book’. We really enjoyed the story.

Mrs Howley’s class created their own front cover and discussed what character we would have in our own books, what they looked, what they did and how we could get them out!

Miss Gorman’s class created a planets for the alien to live on, using felt tips, paper and glitter! We all had great fun imagining what creatures lived on our planets.

Mrs Howley’s class also made amazing bookmarks!

In PE this week, we were practicing our football skills! We were working on spatial awareness, dribbling and control.

In topic this week, Mrs Howley’s class discussed the key features of a village and created their own maps using a key.

Homework is for this week is up on Seesaw.

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend and see you all on Monday!

Calling all Readers!

Tomorrow is World Book Day and the teachers have lots of fun activities planned for you to try, be sure to check on Seesaw and Teams for more details. I can’t wait to see everyone dedicating some time to reading for enjoyment and learning from real authors virtually too! It is sure to be a fun day although it is different to usual.

We would love to see you get involved in some competitions that are running this week and you could even win some books or vouchers! The teacher’s will explain these to you in more detail. But here is an outline of one you could try:

Bring your book to life

We want you to show us how you bring your favourite books to life. Are reading together with a potato or wooden spoon transformed into your favourite book character, or with your favourite book in a bottle or shoe box? Or, are you reading dressed up like someone from a book? Let your imagination run wild! We want you to show us how you bring your favourite books to life.
