Searching for the elusive solar eclipse

P4 have been doing a mini-project on space and as luck would have it, there was a solar eclipse scheduled for 10th June – it’s like we planned it!

We made our eclipse projection viewers and discussed the risks of looking directly at the sun and figured out how to project the image safely…we were good to go.

However, the Fauldhouse clouds rolled in and we were not able to see the eclipse for ourselves – but we did manage to catch a live showing of it on the internet.

We talked about how science can be frustrating when something we’ve planned doesn’t work out, and how important it is to try again…if only we didn’t have to wait another 2 years!

Persuasive writing to change the future for Book Week

Primary Four have been working hard on their persuasive writing recently (my sincere apologies to those of you now being ‘persuaded’ by these negotiating wizards).

Since the theme of Book Week was all about the ‘future’ we decided to write some letters to our favourite villains to persuade them of the benefit of changing their ways.

We really took our time setting out letters correctly and using emotive and powerful words to really tug on the villains’ heartstrings and get them to mend their ways.

P4 Sharing Our Learning Term 1

What a start to the year we’ve had! We’ve been busy catching up with all our friends and enjoying new learning as well.

For this term we have a busy schedule and we have made a great start to our learning already – finding out about food chains, remembering our mental maths skills and starting to read our class novel.

For the rest of the term we have some fantastic learning planned which you can find out about in the attached document – we can’t wait to get stuck in to it all!

P4 Home Learning for 13.8.20

Happy Thursday to my new P4 class – it was lovely to meet you all on Wednesday and our class will feel very empty without you.

Let’s not be sad though, let’s have some fun with the lovely learning tasks I have for you to try. I have uploaded these as a PDF file and they will also be posted on TEAMs so you can pop on there and let me know how you’re getting along with them.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all again on Friday and to making this an awesome year.

See you soon,

Miss Denovan P4 Home Learning 130820

P4 Transition Booklet

Good morning to you all my new wee P4s,

Here it is – the last day of school before the summer break!

I know some of you may be feeling a bit unsure or nervous about coming back to school in August as it will have been such a long time since we saw each other – but to help you with these feelings I’ve attached a wee booklet of information.

There’s lots of information about your new classroom and new teacher (that’s me, by the way) and also about all the things that stay the same, like doing lots of lovely learning and enjoying our time at school.

I hope you all have a fabby summer and I’m so looking forward to seeing you all in August so we can get started with our time in Primary Four.

Every good wish for a lovely summer,

Miss Denovan
