Primary 1/2

Primary 1/2 had a great start to the year.  They have been working hard learning lots of new things.  In Literacy the boys and girls have been practicing their reading and learning lots of new spelling patterns and Fry’s words.  In Maths they have been learning all about pictograms and we made our very own pictogram to go on our classroom wall.  Primary 1/2  did a great job at sharing lots of facts about themselves and their family during their topic’ All about Me’ and were very confident performing and sharing information  at their first Class assembly.  I set them a homework challenge and was amazed to see how much hard work had gone into their family tree.  Well done boys and Girls.

P1/2 also entered our community CAB competition which includes the other 3 schools in the area.  I was very proud to hear that one of our Primary 1’s won the competition and will have her picture placed in this year’s calendar.  Well Done.

This term we will be very busy with our book project ‘The Gruffalo’, learning about anti bullying and road safety and also practicing for our school Nativity.

P5&6 Handball Tournament

On Wednesday the 28th of October P5 & 6 took part in a handball tournament at the Blackburn community center. Schools from around the area competed in short matches as an introduction to the sport. The children had great fun and enjoyed winning every match that they played in.

An active time.

The Shooting Stars are keeping very busy and active.

Last term we joined pupils from P5/6/7 to Walk Our Wigs off and managed to walk all the way to the swings at Seafield and back. We also went to Xcite in Bathgate for a weekly swimming lesson.

This term, as well as P.E. we’re trying out Cyber Coach and Fit Kids on a regular basis in class to help us Wake Up and Shake Up. We will also be doing some dancing in our “Glee Club” for the Christmas Concert.
