MacMillan Cake Sale

Our budding bakers are preparing for our Bake Sale which is happening on Thursday 28th September.  The morning sale will begin at 10.45 am with the afternoon sale starting at 2.45 pm.  Any donations of home baking or (faking) would be greatly appreciated as we are hoping to raise lots of money for MacMillan Cancer Research.  There will also be raffle tickets (50p) on sale at the beginning and end of each nursery session.

Welcome Back Hopefield Nursery!

We have been really busy settling back into nursery and welcoming our new children.

The children have been exploring our new resources and our outdoor space.

Some of our children found some spiders eggs in the garden which sparked an interest in mini-beasts. This has now become our focus of learning.  We even have some live caterpillars which we are caring for and hopefully we will watch them turn into beautiful butterflies.

HMIe Focus Groups

A massive thank you to all of our parents, pupils and partners who took the time today to meet in focus groups with our inspectors.  Everyone was so positive and happy to share their experiences with the HMIe team.  Our pupils and staff are thoroughly enjoying sharing our learning with our visitors this week although I think everyone will enjoy their long weekend too.  Mrs McCarney

Welcome P2/3!

It is so nice to have our P2/3 children back and what a fantastic start to the year they have had!  This year we have decided that we are going to be real life superheroes and protect our rights in class.  We have been focusing on the right to play, the right to be protected and the right to an education.  The children came up with their own rules for in class and have all signed their names to show they agree to and understand the rules.  Our primary 3 children have been setting a very good example to the new primary 2s joining our class and have given them a very warm welcome!  Last year P3 won class of the year and earned a tuck shop, ice cream and even a photo booth opportunity!  I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the year ahead and we are more than ready to earn our dojos again!

Welcome back P4/5

The children in P4/5 are off to an amazing start to the year. As well as settling into all the new class routines they have been learning how to be fantastic bucket fillers. After hearing a story about how saying and doing nice things makes us feel nice we have been focusing on compliments a lot.

Feel free to ask your child if they have filled any buckets today? I’m sure they will have.

Welcome to Primary 1/2

The children in Primary 1/2 are off to a great start and are trying hard to be good listeners. The have been settling into new routines and enjoying getting to know their new classmates better. A big thank you to the Primary 2 children who have been super role models for our new Primary 1 children!

Welcome to A1

A1 have made a great start back to school and to the new school session. We have been out in the sensory garden picking apples that have been busy growing whilst we were on our holidays. We had lots of washing, peeling and chopping to do before making a scrummy apple crumble.

Mrs McLay thought it was delicious! All the other apples we couldn’t use we gave to Mr Warrick to feed to the horse.

Ending the year

ASD1 rounded off their Habitats topic with visits to very different habitats. We headed up to Blackburnhall Holdings to look for wildlife and farm animals in a countryside habitat. We spotted lovely flowers, mini beasts, as well as a variety of farm animals before going to visit to horses at Biccarton Training yard.

Our final Habitat visit was to the seaside, or coastal habitat. We looked for evidence of wildlife on the beach before making the most of our time at Silver Sands in Aberdour. The rain mostly kept away, so we had fun building sandcastles, paddling in the freezing cold water and then playing in park after our picnic lunch. What a great way to round off the year. Thank you to all the family helpers who came along.
