Book Week

This week P4/5, P6,7 and A2 have been visited by: 2 fantastic story tellers called Ruth Kirkpatrick and Gerry Durkin and one author called David Goucher. All the children were thrilled by the visits and could not contain their excitement over being given a signed copy of David Gouchers book by Miss Clarkson.

Lagganlia Day 3 evening and Day 4

On Wednesday evening the children went for a blindfolded rope walk and thoroughly loved it. On Thursday one group went for an all day mountain hike making use of all the skills that they had learned the previous days. The other group went Skiing again in the morning and in the afternoon went to an assault course that was designed to promote team working. Although this was a huge challenge the children all mostly had fun and learned a lot.

Lagganlia Day 2 evening & Day 3

On Tuesday evening after dinner we played a game of rounders and then after dinner were taken out to build a fire and have some marshmallows. It was then off to bed for a well earned rest in preparation for Wednesday morning. On Wednesday one group went kayaking in the morning whilst the other were taken gorge walking. The groups then changed activities in the afternoon and the morning gorge walkers went kayaking and the other group went bouldering. Another fun day was had by all.

Lagganlia Day 2

After settling in on day 1 we were all up bright and early (some earlier than other) and we split into our two groups for the week. In the morning one group went gorge walking and the other went bouldering. Both groups came together in the afternoon to try their hands (and feet) at Skiing. There were many challenges the children faced throughout the day and all were met with determination and resilience. Above all everyone had great fun and im sure you will see that in the pictures.

It’s a MYSTERY!

It’s been an interesting few days for ASD1. At the Assembly on Friday 6th January we were given a mystery box and told we were not allowed to open it. Miss Carson had to carry it with her at break and lunchtime and we had to LOOK, THINK and WONDER about the box.

We were able to see that the box was tall and narrow, it didn’t weigh much and something moved inside when we held it. We thought it might be a soft toy or sand or a few other things. We wrote down everything we thought about what was inside.

Finally, the moment arrived and we opened our box today (Wednesday 11th January) to find a very funny umbrella. It is made of wood and paper. We will be doing some activities about our umbrella over the next few days but the first things we wanted to do was dress up as the person who owns it.

Who do you think we are?

Bonjour Pere Noel!

P7 pupils are looking forward to their transition days at Bathgate Academy this week. In preparation for their Academy Modern Languages classes they joined a cluster school project which meant they had to make a short video in French to be shown during the week.
The pupils started off in two groups, working on different plays but time constraints meant this had to become one performance only. A script was produced in English and then translated into French. Then using glove puppets and a theatre and scenery made by one P7 pupil and her family they recorded “Le Chapeau Perdu” (The lost hat).

Unfortunately the whole video is too large to upload, but here are a couple of scenes from it.

We hope you enjoy it.

Au revoir!
