P1 Monday 27th April – Literacy

Good morning everyone! Hope you had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy the sunshine!

Get ready to join Joe for your daily PE session at 9.00am.

Today we are going to revise the ai sound.

  • Can you remember the song and the action for ai? Join in with the song below.

  • Now watch and listen to this clip explaining the ai sound

  • Next, find the ai pages in your Jolly Phonics workbook and draw and colour 4 pictures using the ai sound
  • Underneath your pictures practise writing the ai sound
  • Now think of 6 good ai words and write them out 3 times in your neatest handwriting on the other side of the page

  • Complete Unit 41 – ee –  in your Handwriting Booklet

 

  • Now try the 3 Tricky/Sight Words Set 1 tasks on Study Ladder focusing on the following words:
  • is, it, in, at, and 
  • Remember to do the tutorial before the practice tasks
  • Next write a simple sentence for each of these words in your jotter e.g The sun is out.
  • Use a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end and use your neatest handwriting.
  • Finally, underline or highlight the Tricky/Sight words in each sentence.

Talk about the story with a family member and try to answer some of these questions.

  • WHICH character do you like best and WHY?
  • WHAT are some of the good things that can happen in spring?
  • Think about the other 3 seasons of the year

P1 Thursday 23rd April – Numeracy

Hello again everyone. Hope you enjoyed meeting Unicorn and Haggis and am I sure you know lots of different kinds of books now.

Here is an audio book from David Walliams for you to listen to at 11.00am which is our usual milk and story time.

Lets warm up for number work by counting to 20 and don’t forget to join in with the actions.

  • Now try making your own number line from 0 to 20 using a strip of card or paper – it could be a in the shape of a snake or a caterpillar or you could cut out numbers from a newspaper or magazine and stick them on
  • Now choose any starting number and add on 3, 4 or 5 by using “jumps” on your number line – which number do you finish on?
  • Hedgehogs and Badgers – complete pages 6 and 7 in your Number Workbook (A7)
  • Squirrels – complete page 4 and 5 in your number workbook (A3)

Remember to draw and write neatly.

Lets get ready for your reading tasks by exercising with Joe at 9.00am.

Don’t forget to have a rest and a wee drink before beginning your reading tasks.

This morning we are going to “Look in a Book” with Cooper who joins Unicorn and Haggis to find out who books are for and how they can help us.

  • Now you’ve watched the clip,  read the book for yourself, (click underneath), or ask an adult to help
  • Is this book a fiction or a non-fiction book
  • How do you know?
  • Can you find all the punctuation marks in the story?
  • Are there any capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks or commas?
  • Can you count them?
  • Explain to someone where or how we use these
  • Can you find any rhyming words
  • Find a rhyming word in the book that rhymes with the following words:
  • read     behave     sun      lands
  • What is your favourite type of book? Is it one that was featured in the story or is it a different type?
  • Draw a picture of it in your jotter and write a sentence to explain how it can help us

Good morning everyone, hope you enjoyed your PM writing task today.

Today we are going to investigate 3D or solid shapes as they are also called.

  • What do you notice about each different shape?
  • Talk to an adult about them.
  • Go on a 3D shape hunt around your home and see how many of these shapes you can spot in everyday objects e.g. box – cube,  orange -sphere, washing machine – cuboid, tin of beans – cylinder etc.
  • Ask an adult if they can help you take some photos of the 3D objects you have found and perhaps you could share these with us
  • Next complete page 7 of your TeeJay Shape Workbook (A9)
  • Play this matching game with an adult who will help you to read the names of the 3D shapes

Good morning everyone, hope you are well and ready for another day of learning.

Remember to tune into Joe Wicks for your daily PE lesson this morning at 9.00am

Today we will continue with the ee sound from yesterday.

  • How many ee words can you think of?
  • Try to sound some of them out to an adult
  • Complete the 3 ee activities on Study Ladder and don’t forget to watch the tutorial (username and password in jotter)
  • Now write 3 simple sentences in your jotter using some ee words of your own e.g. The bee can buzz.
  • Remember to use a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end of each sentence
