Morning A1!

I hope you are feeling well and rested after the weekend! Let’s kick start our morning with  PE with Joe:

Now it is time for Phonics and Spelling!

P1’s you are learning the ‘n’ sound today!  The action for ‘n’ is to hold your arms out to the side and pretend to fly like a plane saying “nnnnnnnnnnnnn” while you fly!

Let’s start by singing the Jolly Phonics songs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euxN7LGOoLc&t=24s

Now I would like you to complete the ‘n’ section in your Jolly Phonics Booklet.  In the boxes draw 4 things starting with ‘n’ then practice writing the letter ‘n’.  On the other page, can you practice writing your ‘n’ words.

P3’s and P7’s you are continuing to learn about the ‘ee’ sound this week:

Now I would like you to complete the last 4 pages in your ‘Long Vowel Sound E’ booklet:

A1 and P1 Literacy Tasks 04/06/20

Good Morning boys and girls!

I hope you are well and are looking forward to fancy dress PE with Joe:

Now it is time for Literacy and we are going to start off by going on a bus journey!

Now, have a look at pages 20 and 21 of  the Exciting_Learning_Opportunities_Home_Learning_Collection booklet you have in your pack.  If you do not have one in your pack.  Click on the link above.

  • Can you think of any new verses and actions for the song?
  • Plan a bus journey… look at an Atlas, travel brochure or online map to get some inspiration.  Engage in some role play and act out your journey… What do you see?  What can you hear?  What can you smell?  Do you have passengers?
  • Draw a map of your journey and use illustrations to show what your saw.
  • Why not make your own tickets for the bus.  What price will they have on them?
  • Can you design a bus?  You can draw it and perhaps create a model of one.  Use your imagination and think about what special features your bus will have.  Be inventive.
  • Be a scientist!  Find things that roll.  How far can they go? Try rolling things down ramps and along different surfaces (carpet or hard floors).  Which travel the fastest and when do they travel the furthest?

Have fun with your interdisciplinary learning!  We will be back in time for story time with David Walliams!

A1 and P1 Food Technology 04/06/20

Good afternoon boys and girls!

We hope you are ready to have some fun in the kitchen because today we are going to be making a Silly Face Sandwich!

Have a rummage in your fridge and kitchen cupboards and get creative!  While making your sandwich, you will be learning how to spread, slice and cut but please be careful when using knives.  Always get help from an adult.

Remember to take a photo of your creation before you start munching it!  We cannot wait to see the photos you send us!

While you enjoy your sandwich, have a listen to ‘The Sandwich Swap’ by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and Kelly DiPuccho:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpGhq4hkYHc

So, it is always important to remember that even if you do not like the look of something, if you try it you just might really enjoy it!  Hopefully this will encourage you to try something new to eat… let us know if you do!  We will be back tomorrow for more fun learning at home.

A1 and P1 Maths Tasks 04/06/20

Hi there boys and girls!

I hope you enjoyed your work with Unicorn and Haggis this morning!  Before we start our Maths work, let’s cuddle in and listen to today’s story from David Walliams:

https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/

It is now time for Maths and today we are learning about the seasons.

Let’s start with a song:

Next, visit the BBC Bitesize website to complete the following tasks:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zkvv4wx/articles/zcx3gk7

Now, I would like you to take a piece of paper and fold it in half then fold it in half again so you have 4 sections when you open your paper back up.  In each section, I want you to draw a picture to show what happens in each season.  Show your drawings to a family member and see if they can guess which season is which.  When they get the correct answer, label your drawings by writing “Winter”, “Spring”, “Summer” and “Autumn” in the correct section.

To finish off our morning, let’s go on another Cosmic Yoga Adventure with Enzo the Bee:

We will be back after lunch!  Enjoy!

A1 and P1 PM Writing Task 03/06/20

Good morning boys and girls!

I hope you are well and ready for PE with Joe this morning:

Now it is time for PM writing.  Today we are learning about words and sentences.

Support the children to:

  • Read the sentences aloud and identify the sentences that tell who and where.
  • Identify the sentences that tell what happened first, then and after that.
  • Read the last sentence and find out how the writer felt when the bird flew away.

Now, inside your pack you will find ‘The Bird and the Cat – Activity 4’.

recount_bird_and_cat-activity4

The purpose of this task is to complete sentences by writing the past tense verbs went, woke and was.

First, write in a word to complete each sentence.  Use the word bank at the top to help you.  Remember to read over your work to ensure all your sentences make sense.

Lastly, draw a picture inside the box at the bottom that illustrates one or all of the sentences.  Remember to add detail to make your illustration interesting.

A1 and P1 Art Activity 02/06/20

Good afternoon boys and girls!

I hope you are enjoying the lovely weather today!  This afternoon we are going to look at some work from an artist called Elsa Mora:

Elsa Mora’s flower people

Elsa Mora is a multidisciplinary artist working in all media, including painting, photography, ceramics, porcelain, collage, bronze and mixed media.

For art this afternoon, let’s get outside and use nature to inspire today’s activity!  Using flowers, petals, leaves and twigs, create your very own flower people.  We cannot wait to see them!
