Now it is time for Literacy and today we are going to be using ‘Old MacDonald had a Farm’ as our context for learning:

Please have a look at pages 22 and 23 of the Exciting_Learning_Opportunities_Home_Learning_Collection booklet and complete some of the activities:

• Research facts about farm animals.  Read the fact bubble on page 22 then use the internet or non-fiction book to find out facts about your favourite farm animals.  You can write your findings in your jotter.
• Make your own farm.  You can build a model, draw a landscape or create a collage.  Check out the ‘Mini locations‘ section on page 23 for some ideas and things to think about when making your farm.  Here are some ideas:

• Together you can talk about how farms support our communities. What role does the farmer play? Think about what animals produce.  You could look at what food you have at home.  Where does it come from?  Check out the ‘All About Farms’ section on page 23 for some questions to talk about.
• Learn about animals and their young.  Sometimes baby animals have a different name from their mummies.  Can you find out the names of all the different farm animals and their young?
