Good morning! Hope you are all well and ready to do some reading.
First let’s warm up with Joe.
Remember to have a rest and a wee drink before starting literacy.
This morning we will continue with some reading tasks.
- First watch and listen as Kayla learns all about rhyming words with Unicorn and Haggis.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zkvmjhv/articles/zfypxyc
- Now read the book, (below the clip), for yourself or with a family member.
- What type of book is this?
- Look for the punctuation marks in the book – can you find CAPITAL LETTERS, FULL STOPS, COMMAS, EXCLAMATION MARKS, QUESTION MARKS etc
- Think about your favourite Nursery Rhyme – can you say it?
- It might be Little Bo Beep, Humpty Dumpty, Baa Baa Black Sheep or is it a different on?
- What are the rhyming words from the Nursery Rhyme?
- Think about a favourite story that rhymes. Lots of Julia Donaldson books have rhyming words – The Gruffalo, The Smartest Giant in Town, Room on the Broom or Monkey Puzzle
- Watch and listen to this clip about rhyming words
- Record the answers to the activity sheet below in your jotter.
- Record them like this hat – bat etc
- or copy the circles and write the words inside and colour to match
- To finish off play the Rhyming match Quiz below
I will check back in with you at 11.00am
