The Resilient Kids Courses were designed by Highland Council Education Psychological Services in response to an increased demand from schools for individualised work for pupils to understand and manage their emotions, particularly at points of transition.
SISS’s team of Inclusion Support Workers have trained in the resource and are currently delivering courses for identified groups of pupils across Stirling schools. Running a Resilient Kids programme is often a offered in response to a SISS support Request.
The programme is differentiated to three course packs
- Resilient Kids to School (Nursery-P1)
- Resilient Kids Together (Primary 3)
- Resilient Kids Moving Up (Primary 7)
Through age appropriate tasks and activities, each course aims to enhance resilience and emotional literacy through improvement of:
- self awareness
- awareness of feelings in self and others
- feelings vocabulary
- awareness of strategies for managing feelings
- friendship skills
- celebration of diversity
The sessions are very practical and involve children working in a circle and taking part in games, stories, role plays and relaxation activities.
