As part of our Christmas from Miss Spiers, we are going to donate money to a charity of our choice. We have been working in groups over the last few weeks and, using Office Create on GLOW, have worked collaboratively to make a PowerPoint informing our classmates of our chosen charity.
Today two groups presented. James R and Freddie spoke about PADS (Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society) and another groups spoke about the Butterfly Trust.
The Butterfly Trust are a charity who help people with Cystic Fribrosis. We were lucky enough to be visited by Lisa Hertwig, a former pupil of Mrs Gallivans, who has CF and who had a double lung transplant just last year!
The Butterfly Trust have helped Lisa in many ways over the years by;
- Helping her find adequate accommodation with no stairs, double glazing and central heating
- Providing massage therapy whilst she was in hospital
- Providing transport to and from her hospital in Edinburgh before she passed her driving test
We are inspired by the work of both of these charities and are looking forward to hearing the rest of the presentations tomorrow.
