Adverse weather/Emergency Closures

Emergency Closure Procedures

Dear Parents,

On rare occasions, the school may to have to close at short notice due to heating or lighting failures, or severe weather preventing staff reaching Drymen.  Should the school have to be closed during school hours and staff are in the building, parents will be contacted by text message, email and the school App.  Please note the text messaging system will contact the main contact’s mobile telephone number only.  In order for this service to work, you must keep us informed of any new numbers.  Please note we have no control over network coverage, loss of certain networks, or out of date phone numbers.  The text messaging service can only be activated in two ways:

1.From inside the school building.

  1. After 9.00 am from Stirling Council on request by me.

In the event of an emergency closure outwith school hours, ie before the start of school or in a period of severe weather, we will contact all parents through the school App, on Twitter and on Stirling Council’s website and Twitter feed.  Again, we cannot guarantee the loss of certain networks.

If you have not downloaded the school App yet and would like to, please see the instructions below.

  1. Search for School App for Parents in the App Store or Google Play
  2. When downloaded, search for our school name to see our dates, news and receive messages.  Contact Mrs Strachan for the password.

The decision to close the school has to be made in consultation with Stirling Council and is made as soon as I have the necessary information.

Should we have severe weather this winter, I would urge everyone to check school closure information on the Stirling Council website, Twitter and on the school’s Twitter feed and the App.

Kind regards,

Patrick Robertson MSc, BEd (Hons)

Head Teacher
