Citizenship Groups

Playground Squaddies – Mrs Dempster takes this group. They work at selecting games they think would work well in the playground and then organise these games and encourage other children to join in.


Healthy Eating and Fairtrade – This group is taken by Mrs McQue. They look at healthy foods and healthy alternatives for snacks and food for celebrations like Christmas and Halloween. They also have tasting sessions and take part in cooking.


Eco Group – Mrs Scott and Mr Murray take this group. they work in the garden, growing vegetables and other plants, cleaning the garden and maintaining the various features like bug hotels and the greenhouse. They also work on areas for our Green Flag award.


Citizen Science – Mr Craven takes this group. Its about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. At the moment, the group are helping classify galaxies on the Zooniverse website.


School Parliament – Mrs Wallace takes this group. they look at issues that affect the whole school like bullying or the school transport plan. Class reps share their decisions with their classes.


Rota Kids/Fundraising – This group is taken by Miss Gardiner. They work in co-operation with the Rotary Club to organise fundraising activities for the school.


Road Safety – Mr Shearer takes this group. The children are planning a Road Safety week and think about ways to raise awareness of the importance of staying safe.


First Aid and WellBeing – Mr Titterington and Mrs Hutton take these groups. They focus on basic First Aid and ways in which we can help ourselves and others’ mental health and wellbeing.


Sports Leaders – Ms. Muir  takes this group. They look at various sports and organise clubs for pupils, either before or after school or at lunchtime.


Callander Action Team – Mrs Bell takes this group and they plan events for the local community.
