Aims
Learners will develop a curiosity, interest and enthusiasm for physics in a range of contexts. The skills of scientific inquiry and investigation are developed throughout the Course, and the relevance of physics is highlighted by the study of the applications of physics in everyday contexts.
The Course is split into four units;
Our Dynamic Universe.
Paticles and Waves.
Electricity.
Researching Physics.
Assessment
There is written assessment for each of these three units and learners are asked to write a report on an experiment that they carry out in class.
An extended assignment on a related area of Physics must be completed under exam conditions in class, then marked externally by the SQA.
The final grade for the course depends on both the final examination and the assignment grade combined.
Learners are Graded frm A to D.
Progression
If learners achieve a C or higher at Higher then they can progress into Advanced Higher Physics.
