Balfron High School Debating club runs every Monday lunchtime in B18.  Debating is a fun way to improve your confidence, thinking skills and ability to win an argument.  There is a debate every fortnight on motions ranging from “This house would go Vegan” to “Political parties are bad for Democracy”. The young people have the opportunity to research a variety of topics before delivering informative, articulate and funny speeches. Young people  from all year groups work together and there are always heated but good natured arguments between members!  During the alternative week the young debaters play debating games in order to practise skills and explore differing viewpoints on a variety of issues.

Several of the young people  have debated in national schools debating competitions with great success and all agree it really does make you more intelligent!
