At Wester Overton, children can take school lunches or bring a packed lunch.
Breakfast service in primary schools
All primary‑aged pupils can have a free breakfast at school.
Breakfast is available each school day 8.15am to 8.45am and helps children start the day ready to learn.
The breakfast menu includes:
- cereal
- toast
- fresh fruit
- milk
Breakfast menus include nutritionally balanced meals in line with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020. If your child has an allergy or special dietary need, please speak to your child’s school.
Primary school lunches
Our current 2025 to 2026 primary school lunch menu finishes on Friday 21 August 2026.
Our new 2026 to 2027 primary school lunch menu starts on Monday 24 August 2026.
Each day, we offer:
- two hot main meal choices, including a vegetarian option
- a sandwich option
- seasonal fresh fruit
- a vegetable side and salad choice
- soup or dessert, depending on the day
Menus are planned to give children familiar favourites while encouraging healthy choices. All meals meet the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020.
We display allergen information and nutritional content for lunchtime menu items. This information is as accurate as possible and should be used as a guide.
Please note that menus may occasionally change due to ingredient availability from suppliers.
School meal prices
- free school meals are available for all pupils in Primary 1 to 5
- pupils in Primary 6 and 7 pay £2.71 per meal
If your child is in Primary 6 or 7, they may still qualify for free school meals.
Free school meals
If you claim certain benefits and your child attends a South Lanarkshire school, they may be able to get free school meals. This includes the provision of free milk for primary pupils.
