The IMS were delighted to host the Faroe Islands National Youth Wind Band for the opening concert of their 2026 Scotland Tour which included performances at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The concert was held within Duncanrig Secondary School and the event brought together the visiting Faroese musicians and the Duncanrig Secondary School Concert Band. The morning of music making was a resounding success, with both ensembles performing to the assembled audience. It was fantastic to meet the young musicians and staff from the Faroe Islands and to build connections with the ensemble. Their conductor Benny expressed how he was very impressed by the high standards of playing from the Duncanrig Concert Band, led by music teacher Allison Orr.
We would like to extend our thanks to Duncanrig Secondary School for hosting the event and welcoming the performers into their space. In particular, we appreciate the efforts of the music department, whose work on the logistics and planning was essential to the smooth running of the concert. We are thoroughly confident that their morning at Duncanrig will be a highlight of their tour!
