📙 WONDERFUL WORK IN LITERACY IN PRIMARY 3

📙 WONDERFUL WORK IN LITERACY IN PRIMARY 3 📙

Munro, Ethan and Camilla-Belle have been writing letters.

Adam , Ailsa and Matilda have been working on common words and spelling words.

We have been working on writing questions, finding nouns and using adjectives.

Ailsa’s Nouns

Matilda’s Nouns

There were more nouns from Munro and Camilla-Belle who I think typed some of their work into Google documents.  Well done!

Munro’s questions

We have been learning to write sentences with joining words.

We have been learning how to make our writing more interesting by describing nouns. We have been learning how to use adjectives.

Camilla-Belle was also typing up her own story. Here it is:

Tim’s Big day

Today is a really special day for Little Tim because it was the thirst day of school.

It was 7 o’clock  in the morning but Little Tim did not care , he rushed down the stairs.

He got ready for the big day. After he got ready he ran up stairs and woke up his Mum and

Dad. It’s 7 o’clock in the morning mum said why are you up so early because it is the first day of SCHOOL!!!! Oh no I  forgot about school said mum.

Come back for part 2 next time.

Little Tim’s big day part  2

Tim was so mad at mum because she had forgotten that it was Tim’s first day of school. Mum jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs and got ready. ‘We are going to get in trouble, get in the car’, said mum. When mum and Little Tim got to school. They were lucky they were just on time. Little Tim did not have any friends so he came to a little girl and he said ‘do you want to be my friend’ the little girl said yes. Little Tim asked the little girl her name. The little girl said Lilly little Tim liked Lily’s name. Little Tim and Lily played together all day. When mum came to pick little Tim up he told mum all about his new friend. Mum was happy that little Tim made a new friend. Little Tim was so excited about his new friend. The next morning little Tim was so excited to go to school because he could meet Lily. When little Tim got to school he ran to Lily and gave her a hug and they played together nearly every day for ever and ever The End.

Great work, everyone! Keep it up!

WORKING, LEARNING AND PLAYING AT HOME

Here are just some of things happening in Primary 3 homes this week.

So wish I was in this kitchen, Adam:

I have heard of some great work going on from Matthew, Ethan, Neive,  Zac,  Luke and Grace.

Lots of you have been helping out at home and in the garden so keep it up! Lots of you have been giving nature a helpful hand too. Adam, Ailsa, Camilla-Belle, Munro, Lucy and Matilda have been working hard on that.

💖 ACTS OF KINDNESS 💖

🌈 HOW CAN ONE PERSON MAKE A DIFFERENCE ?

Lots of you have been being kind in lots of different ways over the past weeks.  We learned about Captain Moore’s kindness in raising money for the NHS and his story shows how we can all make a difference no matter how old or young. See below for some of the acts of kindness going on.   I don’t have photos from everyone, but the messages are for the people who haven’t been able to upload pictures too because I know they have been helping just as much.

Lots of you have been out clapping for the NHS, carers and key workers and lots of people in our Maxwellton family are among the people we are clapping for.   👏

You have made rainbows to make people smile and to help us to stick together even when we have to be apart.

You have written letters to thank people, to keep in touch and to keep spirits up and you have said thank you to people we sometimes take for granted in our families and our communities.

You have been helping in the house and with brothers and sisters.

You have been helping in the garden  and you have been helping nature.

You have all been helping me to learn new skills and encouraging each other on Google Classroom. 💻  💡 📖  💖

Remember the best way most of us can help everyone just now is to follow all the staying safe rules.  You are helping by just doing that.

Primary 3 have been making rainbows to remind us that although we have to be apart just now we are still together.

Here are some of our rainbows.

EARTH DAY – RECYCLE AN OLD BOTTLE TO MAKE A SHAKER FOR THURSDAY

I was putting up a message about Earth Day on Google Classroom so thought that I would post it here too in case some people look at the Blog more often. Basically appreciate our wonderful planet is the task for the day.  Lots of ideas online. Here is what I put on Google Classroom.

Hi Everyone,

I was just googling something and discovered that it is ‘Earth Day’ today. I think some of you are already making a difference to the environment with gardens, butterflies and birdboxes and Earth Day is a day to take some time to appreciate the world around us. It is a beautiful day so if you can get out and enjoy it.

If you are looking for something different to do on Earth Day you could start by just playing today’s little google video which is above the google sign. I think you know what it is. There is always one when you google.

There are also loads of activities online like making a shaker by recycling an old plastic bottle. You could decorate the shaker with permanent pens, paper or ribbons and use it on Thursday to make some noise for our key workers and carers. Try out small amounts of different objects to see what makes a noise you like. You could use little stones, rice, lentils or tiny toys. Remember you can take the shaker apart again and get your toys back. There are other activities which you would need an adult to help with like making wind chimes for your garden or veranda out of recycled tin cans. As always, check with an adult before you start making something.

Taking a walk or riding a bike are good Earth Day activities.

Listen to the buzzing bees and birds from your window or in your garden.

If you are having a lazy day, you could just try to go without using any electricity for an hour which is what people try to do on Earth hour each year.

Draw a poster for Earth Day and put it in your window beside your rainbow.

Help with the recycling today.

Here is just one link I found with ideas:

https://tinkerlab.com/fifty-earth-day-activities/.

Have a nice day, Ms Short. 🐝 (If you look closely, I think that is a bee.)

1. Make sure your bottle is clean and dry inside.
2. Put the small objects you have chosen inside and put on the lid.
3. Shake the bottle to check if you are happy with the noise.
4. Use different objects or add more or less until you are happy with the noise.
5. Secure the lid by screwing it on and adding Sellotape if you think it needs it.
6. Decorate your bottle by drawing on it, tying ribbons around the neck or sticking things on it.
