Learning Our Phonemes

We have been using active spelling strategies to learn our new phonemes. A phoneme is a sound. We have been learning these phonemes:

wa   (was)             ea  (head)           th    (bath) .

Miss Pollock did 4 active spelling activities and everyone worked really hard to learn words with the new phonemes. Look how well everyone is learning.

Everyone is concentrating on their work.  Some people are helping each other to learn. Some people are working independently.

Mini-Beasts in Maxwellton

The Primary 7s helped us and we found lots of mini-beasts because it was still summer. Lucy was quite happy to hold one of the worms we found.

We found bees, spiders, snails, slugs, flies and worms.

Primary 3 Outdoor Learning

Primary 3 started the year with some Outdoor Learning. This work is linked to our Weather topic and our Science topic which is about living and non-living things.

‘I really liked it because it was really fun going outside to find mini-beasts and I found lots of them!’ Thomas.

‘It was interesting because it’s nice to see the animals in the summer!’ Chloe.

‘I liked it because when we went hunting, I loved it because you had to find the beasts and I loved it!’ Grace

‘I liked doing the mini-beast hunt because I liked learning outside.’ Jack
