Location and Catchment Area of Lesmahagow High School
Lesmahagow High School opened in 2007, and is located on Strathaven Road, within the village of Lesmahagow (see map below). Our school serves families within Lesmahagow, Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill to the north, Brocketsbrae and Hawksland to the east, Coalburn and Poneil to the south, Waterside, Auchlochan and Stockbriggs to the south-west and Boghead to the north-west (see map below).
Accessing Lesmahagow High School – Entrances/exits
The main vehicular and pedestrian entrance to Lesmahagow High School is from Strathaven Road (see map below, No. 1). There are also pedestrian entrances from School Road (No. 2) and Station Road (No. 3). A service entrance for emergencies is located on Station Road (No. 4). All visitors must report to Reception.
Our School Day
The school day begins at 8.40 am and finishes at 3.35 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, our school day ends at 12.30 pm. A warning bell rings two minutes before the start of Tutor time and two minutes before the start of Period 6. (8.38 am and 1.53 pm).
Our School Context
Currently, there are 644 pupils within Lesmahagow High School. There are also approximately 70 members of staff who work in Lesmahagow High School each day.
Our Head Teacher is Miss Lee. Our Depute Head Teachers are: Mrs Cimmino, Mrs Docherty, Mr Gray and Mr Robertson. There are seven Faculty Heads, four Principal Teachers of Pupil Support, Principal Teachers for Inclusion, Support for Learning, Equity & Inclusion, Care Experienced Supporter and Developing the Young Workforce.
We are proud to host a specialist provision for South Lanarkshire Council within our school, our Inclusion Support Team. Our Inclusion Support provision is now in the fifth year of its development and will reach capacity in 2025-26.
