Pupil Equity Funding is provided by the Scottish Government directly to schools and is targeted at improving outcomes for young people impacted by poverty, with a focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap.
Within Lesmahagow High School, Miss Leckenby is our Lead Teacher of Equity and Inclusion. Miss Leckenby works closely with pupils, parents/carers and staff to support young people through a range of projects and activities.
Over the past few years, Pupil Equity Funding has been utilised to provide support with:
- costs linked to the school day, including additional uniform items, PE kits, trips, lunches, study equipment
- literacy and numeracy – 1-1 support and online learning support
- opportunities – Dynamic Youth Awards, Wellbeing Awards, Mental Health Awards, after school clubs.
Our Lead Teacher of Equity also raises awareness of:
- Free School Meals
- Clothing Grants for School Uniform
- National Entitlement Cards to support under 22 free bus travel
- UCAS fee waiver for students entitled to Free School Meals.
