Welcome back!

Welcome to the start of the new term at High Blantyre Primary School and Nursery Class. I hope you all had a lovely summer and enjoyed spending time with your children and families. The sun always shines on the first day of school and it was great to see all our children (and parents/carers) smiling on their way into school this past week. We are delighted to welcome all of our new Primary 1 pupils to High Blantyre Primary and are looking forward to meeting all of our new nursery children over the next few weeks too!

In school we had our first whole school assembly of the session.  I spoke to all the children about the ‘The High Blantyre Way,’ which includes our school values and rules: Ready, Respectful and Safe, which are clear, concise and easy to remember. There is a copy of The High Blantyre Way in your child’s homework diary (P2-P7) and all parents will be sent a copy through Parentsportal. ‘The High Blantyre Way’ is an overview of our Positive Behaviour and Relationships Policy, which explains how we can all work together as partners in your child’s learning.  We have so much planned already for the new session, including celebrating 150 years of High Blantyre Primary! I am looking forward to sharing our plans for school improvement with you all at the Parent Council AGM on Tuesday the 23rd of September, where we we also be looking for more parents/carers to join the Parent Council.

World Book Day

As a passionate Reading School we are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day. Teachers have planned a full day of fun activities for their classes.

We will be welcoming back Gerry the Singing Storyteller to entertain and inspire our readers.

Look out for photographs of our day.

Ready, Respectful, Safe.

We are a Rights Respecting School and teach our children about their rights through weekly assemblies, classroom activities and the general day to day life and work of the school. Our School Behaviour and Relationships Policy, ‘The High Blantyre Way,’ reflects our core values and rules ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe,’ and attachment informed approach to managing and supporting children to understand their emotions and behaviour.

We are having a big focus on respect for each other and our school environment. Staff have been motivating pupils to look after their property and take pride in their school. There has been a reduction in lost property and the school is looking particularly tidy.

Our Leadership Team have been giving out ‘Cool Cards’ designed by our pupil voice groups to pupils seen displaying our values ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe.’
