Welcome Back (reminders!)

Welcome back Room 13!

I can’t believe how quickly the October holidays have come and gone but I hope you have all had an amazing week off.  I can’t wait to hear all about what you’ve got up to!

Just a couple of reminders for this week:

  1. Individual and sibling photos will be taken tomorrow.  I haven’t been given specific times for these, but please make sure you are looking your best for these!

2. Christmas IQ order forms AND money MUST be handed in this week.  The orders are being sent away this week so please ensure if you are wanting to order some, you get these in to me ASAP.

3.  PE days have now officially changed and we will have PE on Thursdays and Fridays.  Same as before, please make sure you have full PE kit with you on both days.

Looking forward to seeing all your smiley faces back tomorrow, I’m sure you all can’t wait to be back 😛

See you tomorrow!

Miss M 🙂

Happy Holidays!

Room 13… thank you for your hard word over the last few weeks.

It was lovely to finish off the week with a full day of STEM on Friday.  Your models are looking great!

Parents / guardians, thank you for taking the time to come along to parents evening.  It was lovely to see so many of you and have such positive feedback about how you think the pupil’s are settling in to class.

You all deserve some well deserved time off!

Have a fantastic October week and I can’t wait to hear about what you all get up to, when we get back.

Enjoy!

Miss M 😀

Homework due Friday 11th October

Happy Monday Room 13!

One more week to go before the October holidays!

Only two pieces of homework this week and NO spelling test on Friday because you have all worked so hard over the last couple of week, you deserve one week off!

Reading Homework – Please read the next FULL chapter of your book and write a brief SUMMARY of that chapter.  This does not need to be long, 2-3 sentences would be great.

STEM – I would like each of you to create an ’10 Amazing Facts About Energy’ information sheet.  If possible, I would love this to be done as a Word Document and printed out.  I will hand out an exemplar in class so you know what is expected.  This can be done in colour or black/white and I would love bold headings, a clear list of 10 facts and some pictures too.

If you cannot print at home, but you can put it on a USB, please bring this to class and I will print it off for you.

If you cannot print at home or bring in on a USB stick, I am happy for you to complete this on a sheet of A4 paper.  However, please make sure this is done in your neatest handwriting as I would like these to look fantastic for your STEM project (remember the judges will be looking at these!)

The information on the sheet should NOT focus on different types of energy, as we have already completed this task.  I would like facts about where energy is most commonly used, which type of energy has been around for the longest period of time, new types of energy, etc…

Your energy fact sheets, which you made in class look excellent, so I am expecting the exact same effort and presentation for these information sheets!

Busy week ahead before we stop for the holidays and I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s parents/guardians on Thursday for parents night!

Let’s have a great week everyone!

We will be starting our STEM model building NEXT week.  This is not a required piece of homework, however, please keep your eyes peeled for anything at home that you may want to use.  Recycled materials such as cardboard boxes are going to be perfect!  Please start bringing any materials you have, into class this week.  Remember the more you have… the easier it will be to build!

Busy week ahead with our STEM projects well under way and another trip up to Stonelaw, with the Primary 7’s, for their sports festival.

Looking forward to a great week with you all!

Homework due WEDNESDAY 25th September

Happy Monday Room 13!

The September weekend means we won’t be in school on Friday, therefore homework will be due in on Wednesday 25th September.

Only two tasks to be completed though!

See the source image

Maths: There is a set task for you to complete on Sumdog this week.  You are focusing on your 4 and 6 times tables.  Please let me know by Tuesday if you cannot access this.

STEM: Each of you will have a copy of the ‘STEM Home Energy Survey’ which was handed out in class.  Please complete this at home, on the worksheet and return to class on Wednesday morning.  It is really important that you bring this with you, as you will be analysing the results, with your group, in class, on Wednesday.  The survey worksheet will also be submitted as part of your project, so please complete it as neatly as possible!

I will upload a copy of the survey to the blog in case anyone misplaces it.

Committee Reps for Room 13!

It’s been an extremely busy time in Room 13… lots of roles to be filled for the year ahead.

With that being said, I am delighted to announce the class representatives for P6/7:

Pupil Council – Ruby

Reading Ambassador – Stella

I have no doubt that these pupils will be fantastic representatives for Room 13 and we wish them luck for the year ahead.

Well done guys!

Miss M 🙂

Homework due Friday 6th September

Spelling homework

Spelling Homework 2.9.19

Spelling homework for this week is attached in the document linked above.  Spelling groups are still to be confirmed, therefore the whole class will focus on the same ten words this week.  If anyone is having trouble accessing the document please let me know.  You do not need to print this off and bring it to class.  Please just complete the tasks in your homework jotter.  Spelling test will be Friday 6th September.

Maths homework will work in rotations.  Two groups will have a worksheet (or similar activity to complete) and the other two groups will be asked to complete one Sumdog and one Study Ladder activity.  The following week, the tasks for these groups will swap over.

Triangles – Please complete the equivalent fractions worksheet (will be given out in class) in your jotters.  Please do not write on the worksheet.  This must be returned to class on Friday alongside your homework.

Squares and Circles – One Sumdog and one study ladder activity on multiplication to be completed.  Please have a parent or guardian sign your homework diary confirming this has been completed.

Rectangles – Weight worksheet to be completed in your jotter (this will be handed out in class).  You do not need to copy out the diagrams.  Please return this worksheet on Friday.

Rectangles could you also please weigh 5 objects of your choice from home and order these from lightest to heaviest.  Remember if it is heavier than 1kg, I would like your answers in kg and g… not just grams! (e.g. if something weighs 1500g, please write this as 1kg 500g).

Thank you for a great week last week, and look forward to seeing you on Monday!
