WOW!  Well done to everyone who entered the Explore Learning Young Writer’s Short Story Competition.  Everyone received a certificate for entering and Laura from Explore Learning came to assembly today to present medals to those whose stories were highly commended.  No other school received as many highly commended medals.

The huge news though is that Ellie Rochford, P6b, was presented with a trophy as her story was selected as the regional winner (only four were selected in the whole of Scotland) and it has now been sent to London (along with around 80 finalists from all over the UK) to be read by the judging panel there (including the author of How to Train Your Dragon!) and Ellie is in with a chance of winning a family holiday to Dinseyland Paris.  Well done to all and well done to Ellie.  We’re all rooting for you!

What a great day we had on World Book Day.  Lots of reading activities and loads of great costumes of literary characters.

Tonight (23rd April) is World Book Night where everyone is encouraged to take a break from the tv or the xbox and read a book.
