P6/7 Assembly

Our P6 & P7 topic this term is internet safety. The past two assemblies have been led by our P6 & P7 bairns, who shared the knowledge they have gained about staying safe online and promoting healthy online habits.

They highlighted the importance of developing healthy habits when using the internet and discussed the negative effects excessive screen time can have on the body and sleep, as well as how it can contribute to anxiety.

The pupils also explained how to be SMART online and presented a range of scenarios to help raise awareness.

As part of their topic, they have been looking at their own screen time by keeping a screen time log and reflecting on their personal use compared to the recommended average, helping them to better understand what health screen time looks like.

Well done to everyone involved for delivering such a great presentation!

Nesting Girlsta UHA Visit 2026

We had a great morning enjoying a visit from the Nesting and Girlsta UHA Jarl Squad!

Merryn really enjoyed seeing her dad and her uncle who were both a part of the Jarl Squad

Some of the P7 bairns put together a quiz for the Jarl Squad to see how well they knew their Jarl… They got 8 out of 8!! Well Done!!

The bairns have been practicing their Shetland Dancing in school and they got to take part in a Boston 2 step before the Jarl Squad left!

Fire Festival School Visit 2026

We had such an exciting end to out first week back to school, a visit from the Scalloway Fire Festival Jarl Squad. The bairns made helmets, shields and torches for the occasion  and received special pin badges from the Jarl squad.

Everyone looked and sounded fantastic! They all sang and cheered, it was brilliant!

The P7 bairns challenged the Jarl with a music quiz on popular songs over the years…. We think the Jarl won 😉

We love shield we were presented with and it will hang proudly in our dining hall
