The Parental Involvement Act made changes to the arrangements for parental representation in all schools. From August 2007 Parent Councils were established as the representative body for parents taking over from School Boards.
The role of the Parent Council is to:-
- Support the school in its work with pupils
- Represent the views of all parents
- Encourage links between the school, parents, pupils, pre-school groups and the wider community
- Report back to the Parent Forum
All parents and carers of children attending Tingwall Primary School are members of the Parent Forum. The Parent Council was formed in accordance with the Constitution – amended 2021

In 2018, our Parent Council raised money to improve our school playground. They organised a wonderful spring Fair and then got together some skilled parents and pupils who came along and built us lots of fun activities. Thank you all so much.
