Mr Healy’s Visit to Primary 5-7

What a real joy it was to recently visit the Primary 5- Primary 7 class who had written detailed and insightful letters in which they introduced themselves as pupils whilst also asking me lots of questions as they aimed to get to know more about the new Head Teacher of Tingwall Primary School. Many of the questions made me think and reflect, which is always a good sign! Questions ranged from learning about my family and my hobbies, to my experiences as a teacher and school leader, to my favourite cuisines and drinks. There were even some ‘out of the box’ thinking questions such as my favourite shoe brand and whether I had yet been to Skerries (not yet but it’s on my list). Fun fact related to this … I have been to a town called Skerries in North County Dublin in Ireland before but not yet been to the local Shetland version!

Joining the class was a real joy and I hope the experience was interesting and full of learning for our pupils. Now that we know more about each other, we are well set for the weeks and months of high-quality learning ahead. I’m looking forward to supporting every pupil on the journey. My thanks to Miss Williamson for supporting the pupils in class with their letter writing and for the kind invite to speak to the class about my response letter which you can find here!

Thanks,

Niall
