I finished reading David Walliams’ new book, The Midnight Gang. I really liked it, just like the rest of the David Walliams books.

I finished the Tokyo Mew Mew manga series. I love it! The last two novels made me cry! It is also an anime and a video game! I have watched a bit of the anime and it is really good, especially the voice acting! There are lots of people who worked on the manga, but the main illustrator is Mia Ikumi. There are 7 whole books in the series, but my favourite is the last one. 😀

Over the holidays I got lots of books for Christmas, so I will just put all of them in one big entry.

I re-read The Diamond Girls by Jacqueline Wilson. I love all her books but this is one of my special favourites! 🙂 My favourite bit is when they are leaving for their new house on the planet estate. I have read it lots of times before but I just found it on my bedside table and thought, “why not?”

It’s not a story but for Christmas I got Mastering Manga by Mark Crilley (I think I spelled his name right). I love to draw and this book gave me some really good tips. My favourite page was the chibi page, and using the instructions, I drew me as a flower fairy and little sister Bella in a cat suit! The book also inspired me to do a time machines comic which lasted for eight whole pages!

I read another book but I forgot what it is called and who it is by, but it reminded me of the relationship between me and Bella so I thought I’d put it here anyway.

I recently re-read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis. I think the ideas and magic are very good, but I think it is lacking in comedy. I think it would be so much better if there were funny bits in it. However, I suppose the seriousness kind of adds to the magic of the story.

I was visiting Granny and Grandad in Yell and looking for something to read just before bed, and I was searching the book cabinet when I found ‘The Practical Princess and Other Liberating Fairy Tales’ by Jay Williams. Granny recommended it to me so that night I finished every tale in the book and it is GREAT! I love it! I couldn’t have chosen a better book! Just to give you an idea of its spectacularity, I will copy out the blurb:

What was the fairy thinking of when she gave the gift of common sense to a baby princess? After all, what does a princess need but beauty and charm? But Princess Bedelia’s common sense brought her through many difficult situations. These funny stories are not at all the usual kind of fairy tale.

My favourites were The Practical Princess and Petronella, though I loved all of them. I hope to get a copy myself soon. As a final note before I dash off to eat some of Granny’s amazing chocolate logs, the drawings are very unique as they are simply silhouettes, though you can perfectly tell what they are.

I just remembered! In class we read A Series of unfortunate events: A Bad Beginning! I absolutely loved it! My favourite character is Sunny (surprise, surprise) and she reminds me of my little sister Bella, which is funny because me and Bella couldn’t be more different!
