This week we have been celebrating numeracy week. We used our outdoor space to practice our measuring and estimation skills. We measured how high some of our wildlife area trees are. We had to make an estimate of the height in metres and use a bucket of water to find the reflection. We then used a formula to calculate the height. It was fun but tricky to find the reflection but gave us lots of practice estimating in metres.
We started the new school year with a football block in PE. Pupils focused on developing their passing, dribbling, and shooting skills, learning how to use them effectively in real game situations. Everyone showed great teamwork, determination, and enthusiasm as they built confidence and improved their abilities on the pitch. Well done to all!
This week we have been planting native Shetland trees with Lerwick Port Authority. All trees were grown from seeds gathered in Shetland.
The trees will help to off set the carbon footprint of the authority. They calculated that the paper they use, each year, equates to 12 trees. We planted around 300!
It was a lot of fun and we will enjoy watching them grow.
This term we have been learning to to program Microbits. We made plant water monitors which could monitor how wet our soil was. We tested them in different areas around the school.
This term we have been exploring plants, with lots of outdoor learning. We have been investigating why plants are so important to our planet.

In Art p7 have been exploring Form by manipulating paper and using it to create 3-dimensional parts to a collage of a Wack Face.
The imagination shown when creating the faces was excellent, well done p7!
