Back To School Instrumental: tuned percussion, guitar, keyboard & drums

We have learned three different parts for the instrumental section of the song ‘I’ve Got the Back To School Blues’ and we firstly learned to play each part on tuned percussion – xylophones and glockenspiels.

We could then choose which part we preferred to play together and many of us chose to play the most tricky part which was part three.  We then had the chance to use what we had learned and transfer it to other instruments.

In the first clip some of the class are playing their part on xylophones or glockenspiels.

In the next clip you will see three of the class playing their parts on guitar.

In the next clip, another three pupils transferred their parts onto keyboards.

And in our last clip you will see all three instrument groups playing their parts plus two further pupils keeping a steady beat on the drum kit at the back of our music room.

What a talented bunch of musicians we have in P6B!

Art Lesson

In art p6 have been learning about the European artist Pablo Picasso.

Having looked at and discussed his work, pupils have gone on to abstract shapes and proportions to create their own self-portrait in the style of Picasso.  They then combined coloured pencils and chalks render the portraits.

PE Update – Hockey

This term, we are focusing on invasion games, with hockey and basketball forming the main areas of learning. We began with a week of skills development to build the core attributes required for success in both sports. These included cooperation, dodging, weaving, attacking, defending, communication, and decision-making.

We then moved on to hockey. Throughout this block, pupils have been building their confidence in controlling the ball, passing accurately, and dribbling effectively. They have had regular opportunities to practise and refine these skills before applying them in fun, competitive games. As the unit progresses, pupils will continue to develop their teamwork, spatial awareness, and tactical understanding of the game.
