This term in Music we have been learning about a genre called the Blues. Below is an audio file of the class singing a new song that Miss Stewart wrote called ‘I’ve Got the Back to School Blues’. We’re also learning instrumental parts on xylophone and glockenspiels.

Art Lesson

In art p6 have been learning about the European artist Pablo Picasso.

Having looked at and discussed his work, pupils have gone on to abstract shapes and proportions to create their own self-portrait in the style of Picasso. They then combined coloured pencils and chalks render the portraits.

PE Update – Hockey

This term, we are focusing on invasion games, with hockey and basketball forming the main areas of learning. We began with a week of skills development to build the core attributes required for success in both sports. These included cooperation, dodging, weaving, attacking, defending, communication, and decision-making.

We then moved on to hockey. Throughout this block, pupils have been building their confidence in controlling the ball, passing accurately, and dribbling effectively. They have had regular opportunities to practise and refine these skills before applying them in fun, competitive games. As the unit progresses, pupils will continue to develop their teamwork, spatial awareness, and tactical understanding of the game.
