Following on from our recent trip to Taing House, the day-care service users have been making lovely crafted pumpkins for the P5 class as a thank you for visiting them. What a lovely surprise! We’re planning more visits in the future.

Outdoor Learning – Numeracy – Parallel Lines
We’re studying 2D shape this term and took the opportunity to head outdoors to look for parallel lines in the school grounds. We worked in groups, using our collaborative meta skills. We found lots of things with parallel lines.
Art Lesson
In Art P5 have been learning about the artist Eric Carle and trying to create mini beasts using his textures collage technique.
First, we researched and designed our mini beast before deciding on a shape.
We then explored paint and used different applicators to create different textures.
The following week we cut shapes, layered and collaged to create our mini beast.
To finish them off we used pipe cleaners and oils pastels.
Great work P5!
Outdoor Learning – Wildlife Area – Hunt for Living Things
As part of our Living Things topic, we headed outdoors to the wildlife area to look for insects and different types of plants. We used our curiosity and collaborating meta skills. We found lots of living things, including worms, spiders and moths. It was fun!
Visit to Taing House – Inter-Generational Activity
We visited Taing House Day Care on Friday. We were invited along to make garden ornaments with the service users. We chose our equipment and created our own tin person. We met new people and family members and enjoyed juice and biscuits too! We focused on our communication and creativity meta skills. It was fun! As a thank you, we wrote letters to Mrs Friedlander and her team. We’ve been invited back, hopefully leading up to Christmas time. We’re looking forward to that.
Dodgeball
In PE we have been doing dodgeball. We have played lots of new games while focusing on our Balance & Control and Respect & Tolerance.
