IDL research presentations

For their homework P4/5 had to research the following:

🐾 Homework Task: Explore the Animal Kingdom!

Objective: Learn about different animals, their habitats, diets, and unique adaptations—and present what you discover in a creative way.

Choose 3 animals from different classes (e.g., Mammal, Reptile, Bird).

I gave them 3 weeks to do this and I am always blown away with how well they do!  Each opts for a different way to present it and wow did it range from fantastic models made out of cardboard, Lego animals (created by not following a design), superb informative posters, newspapers, PowerPoints and tik tok style videos!  Just love them all and grateful that they took time to do it.  Well done guys – its been quite a day!

Thank you for supporting them at home.

P4/5 Assembly

After a lot of hard word I am very proud of the class and how well the assembly went.  A superb showcase of our learning so far.  Thank you at home for your help also.

Please enjoy some photos of it and thanks again to those who made it to watch.

Snow Day

Hello again

I hope you are all having fun in the snow, please be careful in the ice and make sure you get a lovely hot drink when you come in ☕

I am attaching another grid with ideas of things to do today.  Would be lovely to see what you are up too.

I do enjoy the snow but I am also ready to come back and see you all!  Maybe we’ll be together tomorrow ❄️

Stay safe, Mrs McClelland💌

Outdoor Maths – Symmetry Sculptures

P4/5 have been having learning about Symmetry in maths and this week they have been able to take their learning outside!

This involved a trip to Hoswick beach to make 2D + 3D symmetrical sculptures using natural resources found on the beach!

The pupils loved this.  “This is fun!”  “We get to do maths outdoors”

They listened to the instructions, worked together and created some super sculptures.

Big thank you to the parent helpers – without you this couldn’t have happened.

Primary School Christmas Musical by P3-7 pupils

6 weeks of hard work between Mr Fraser, Mr Hayes + Mrs McClelland’s classes paid off yesterday afternoon/evening.

We couldn’t be prouder of how hard each and every pupil worked and how it all came together for the parents/guardians/family to see.

Nearly the end of term, holidays are coming and more importantly Santa!  Enjoy the festivities when they come 🎄🎅

Christmas Fayre

We were incredibly busy with making our products for the Christmas Fayre.

We recycled old Christmas cards to turn them into labels for Christmas presents.  The pupils enjoyed cutting these out, putting Christmas ribbon on it and packaging it up in bundles of 5.

Our other product took a bit more time and effort. They were worth it though.  We used green wool and cardboard to create Brussel Sprout pom poms.  Once they were made into pom poms they glued on googly eyes and crowns.  Very cute.

We also helped out Claire in the library by selling some of her lovely Christmas bookmarks.

On the day I had some very helpful children help set up and work the stall during the fayre.

We did really well too. Lots of hard work in the lead up but always worth it in the end.
