YPI – Final 2026

North Isles Showcase Final, held on Wednesday 13 May 2026 at Mid Yell Junior High School.

S3 pupils from both Mid Yell and Baltasound Junior High Schools took part in the final, presenting in groups about a range of local charities. These included Samaritans, focusing on mental health; Dogs Against Drugs, focusing on drugs awareness and prevention; Alzheimer Scotland, focusing on dementia awareness and support; Space2Face, focusing on support and restorative justice; and the Compass Centre, focusing on sexual violence support.

Each group explained the important work their chosen charity does in the community and outlined why they felt it was deserving of the grant. The pupils presented their charities to a panel of judges from the school and the wider local community. They spoke with confidence, passion and care, showing a strong understanding of the needs of others and the positive impact these organisations have.

The winning group stood out by being that little bit more creative, engaging the audience with a quiz — complete with prizes!

Well done to the winning group (Aaliyah, Tilly & Dylan), who advocated for the Compass Centre and secured £3,000 to support the valuable work this charity does in our local community, supporting those affected by sexual violence.

A huge well done to all S3 pupils from both schools. A great deal of time, effort and teamwork went into researching, preparing and delivering your presentations.
