Problem Solving:
Have a go at the One Big Triangle activity. Cut out the triangles and arrange them into one big triangle. Joining edges need to add up to 10.

Ask an adult to tell you a number and then you find it on your 100 square and circle it. If you are not confident with numbers to 100 then start with numbers within 20 or 30 and then build up.
Practise identifying numbers using the helicopter game.

Use the partitioning method to answer the addition questions on Heinneman Textbook page 9 .

Do the Maths sheets dated wb18 January in your pink folder all about fruits.
Look in a kitchen food cupboard at home. Sort the items into boxes, bags, packets and tins. Count and record how many of each there are?
P1 /2 Make a table, chart or pictogram to show the information you have collected.
P3 /4 Draw a block graph or bar chart to show the information you have collected.
How many items of food did you find altogether in the cupboard?

Pick 3 of your numbers at random and put them in order smallest to largest/largest to smallest.

Addition – Word Problems:
Ask your child some addition questions like the one below.
There are 5 frogs on a log, 1 more arrives. How many are there now?
There are some examples on the Word Addition Sheet in the pack. Keep answers within 10 to begin, but this can be extended to 15.
You can use concrete materials such as counters, lego cubes or pasta to help with the calculations.

Practise addition within 10 using the Robot Addition game.
Primary 2
Practise saying the forward number sequence from 0–50. Keep going to 100 if you can.
Now try going backwards from 30-0. If you can manage that easily try 50-0
Ask someone to say a number between 0-20. Can you write it down then write the numbers that come before and after that number.
(If you can manage that easily then use a bigger range of numbers 0-30, 0-50 or 0-100)
Primary 3/4
Making 3-digit numbers: Choose 3 different numbers between 1 and 9, then make all the 3 digit numbers you can using those numbers. So if you chose 2, 6 and 5 you could make the following numbers:
256, 265, 526, 562, 625, and 625
Write them out in order from smallest to largest.
Now choose another 3 different numbers and have another go.
Finish up with a session on Sumdog

Addition and subtraction: Practise your addition and subtraction within 20 using the Hit the Button game.

- Counting forwards from 0-20 (keep going if you can)
- Counting backwards from 20-0 (that’s a lot trickier)
- Laying out your number cards to 20 in order.
Then lay out objects in groups i.e. lego, grapes, pencils. Can you make a group for each number to 20?

You can find numbers up to 20, 30, 50 and 100. Once you have mastered numbers to 20 challenge yourself with finding bigger numbers.
