Week 11!

This week we thought we would ask if you could show these photos to the bairns and ask if they can tell you what we have been doing in nursery. Please use the comment function to let us know what they say. It has been another busy week!

Thursday 11th

It has been rainy but we have been outside in between showers. Building pirate boats (and scrubbing the decks) and helping each other around an obstacle course around the garden. We have had stories today as well as lots of imaginative play in dens and with the peerie people in the doll house. Someone had the good idea to get the beads out so we have had lots of playing with them. See if you can spot the elephant trunks we made this afternoon too!

Tuesday 9th March

We are still super busy in nursery, exploring everything and trying out new resources and toys. We’re also managing to play with some things for a bit longer now that we have settled in a bit and as you can see we have made some amazing creations. We’re making our own (cosy) pirate ship outside and are using the drain pipes to make huge marble runs. It can be tricky to get the angles right and make sure the balls are the right size for our pipes but we are figuring it out as we go along. Lunch and snack time has been great times to sit down and catch up – the food is good too!

Thursday 4th March

It was a bit colder today but it was dry and we did get some sunshine in the middle of the day. There was much excitement when Mrs Georgeson took Winnie the dog in to see everyone. Playdough and amazing towers of blocks were just some of the things we played with today.

Tuesday 2nd March

The bairns are getting a bit more settled so are spending a bit longer at some areas now. Lots more working together as you can see. Catchie, den-making and a lot of outdoor play – especially with the drain pipes – has been popular.

A peerie reminder that Covid-restrictions mean that toys, games and dressing up clothes from home can’t be brought in just now. If your bairn needs a ‘transition toy’ such as a teddy or a small blanket to help them get settled this is fine, but anything else just now we have to be careful with.

We also wanted to say thanks to any parents or carers who have been giving us or the school a quick ring to let us know your child is staying home or will be in late any day. It really helps us with staffing and reduces waste in the canteen for lunches too.

Come have a look around our Early Years!

This is some of our stations in our Early Years!

Our music, game and story station! This side has lots of experiences to make some noise, create and act some stories, explore some drama and play a game with your peers!

This is our cosy corner on the other side of our music, game and story station! We would usually have a nice cosy rug down but we have some restrictions in place!

This is our loose parts area! Lots of fun things to explore and an endless amount of open ended experiences.

Our construction area, explore how things move, fit together and use your problem solving skills!

This is the children’s roleplay kitchen area. We like to have real resources out so the children can experience real life opportunities. There have been lots of meals and ideas from restaurants, to bakeries and pizzerias!

This is our message centre! We can access lots of environment print and resources to practice our writing skills!

This station varies in use! At the moment it is being used for a sensory tray!

This is our together time area, again usually there is a nice cosy rug for us all to join together on. We have lots of group chats in this area and we look at our timetable, weather station and our pictorial time table.

This is our Sensory Tray Area; we have lots of activities ranging from sand, water, shaving foam, gloop- the mess goes on and on! If you have any ideas please let us know- we love being able to explore our senses!

Currently this is our small world area! We usually use this as our role play/dressing up area but this has been limited due to the coronavirus! But fear not, we have been able to use our imaginations without the use of props and clothes! Pirates, doctors, dogs, fairies, sailors!

This is our craft station, lots of opportunity to create, stick, paint, cut and be busy!

Our painting station, lots of opportunities for mixing, using different utensils and exploring different artists and movements.
