Thanks to everyone who has already donated some lovely items for our Christmas Hamper.  It is looking awesome!

Just a little reminder that Friday 4th December is the last day we can accept donations before the Hampers are ready for raffling!

Thanks!

Mr T-Rex really enjoyed his soup that the bairns made for him……

Mmmmmmm…yummy..

Week 8 & 9

We rounded off our Super Senses learning with some taste and touch activities and an end of term Fire Pit.  It was particularly special as it was the last day at Nursery for one of our bairns.

What better way to experience our senses than the smell of an open fire, marshmallows toasting and fresh air, the sound of the birds in the trees and bairns’ laughter, the sight of blue skies and such happy faces from bairns and staff, the most delicious taste of smores and beans on toast and staying cosy from the heat of the fire!

The taste test – what can you taste when you hold your nose – apple or tottie?……….

Help needed please!

Help! Our dolls are getting really chilly now that Summer is over and are looking for some clothes.  If anyone has any spare dolls clothes they no longer use, we would be really grateful of any donations to Nursery to help keep these babies warm in Winter.  Thank you.

Week 6 and 7!

WOW – how can we be on week 7 already?!  Here’s a peerie look at what we’ve been up to the last 2 weeks……

Inspired by the different genres of music we’ve been learning about, we extended our music into learning about our Super Powers – SENSES!.  We have been exploring our sense of sight and hearing and loved using these music bells to make our own music as well as copt patterns and rhythms of other music.

We made glasses and played games where we had to use only our eyes or only our ears to play the game.  “Winky” was our favourite where we all had to choose someone to wink or blink at and swap places without anyone seeing.

As always we’ve had great fun outside with a mixed bag of weather.  We’ve been painting, exploring the forest while being mindful of what we could see and hear each time.  We loved the sound of the rustling leaves in the wind and the crunching leaves under our feet.  We took leaves back to Nursery and enjoyed, leaf printing, making our family trees and a big thank you tree for Paul, who helped us care for our forest.  We even used the leaves to make our Christmas cards!

Our forest gives us great opportunities to talk about Autumn and see the leaves changing.  We looked for different animals that might live in our forest and thought about the hedgehogs who may be looking for somewhere to hibernate.  We even made our own Autumn tree in the playground.

We’ve enjoyed sunshine at the playpark and rainy days for puddle splashing.  We went fishing in the puddles for fish and sea creatures.  We made homes and aquariums for each sea creature which developed into a fun “sinking and floating” experiment.

We worked together to make a water fall and use the water to move objects down the pipes and what better way to end the day, than with a water fight!!  Lots of fun was had by all.

Lots of fun in the mud kitchen and mark making…..

Mark making……

We’ve been busy learning about road safety on our walks and recreating these in the playground with trips on our “bus”, road works and bikes and scooters, whilst building roads and ramps inside with different materials.

Looking forward to see what next week brings………

Stay and Play – Term 3

Thanks to all our parents and siblings who came to our Stay and Play day and helped us prepare for SMUHA.  We had a fab morning and everyone was just so busy.  Your shield biscuits looked and tasted amazing.

It was great to catch up with parents and for you to have the opportunity to see your child’s learning.

The biscuits looked amazing.  I wonder who decorated the best shield biscuit?

The galley was amazing and enjoyed by all!

Valentine’s and Outdoor play

We love role play in Nursery and like to pretend we are Elsa and Anna from Frozen, who can freeze things.  We froze hearts and explored different ways to melt or break them to find what was inside…..

………Some of us preferred using warm water in syringes and droppers to melt holes in the hearts.

….some of us preferred using tools to break the ice instead

But when the ice melted – it was even more fun!……

….floating petals to make patterns

….sucking and squirting water with syringes.

…..making perfume and love potions

Squirting water made everything wet inside, so there was nothing for it but to go outside for a WATER FIGHT!  Which was EVEN MORE FUN!……

It was a good job we had waterproofs on.  We  drew pictures with the water – it was hard to control it sometimes.  We did lots of target practice and the bairns drew their own targets to practice on when we were all too wet.  Some bairns squirted water to wash the windows.  Mrs Bishop said we could wash her car if we wanted…….SO WE DID……………….

We must have done a good job as Mrs Bishop sent us a Thank You card for all our hard work!

Busy Bees

Wow, we can’t believe we’re half way through this Term already! Here’s a snap shot of some of the fun we’ve had with learning so far this Term…….

…….Letters, sounds, Bookbug, baking and messy play…

…..sand pit and mark making…..Drewie and Callum wrote a Wishlist of Bruder toys and posted it.  Much to their excitement a reply came in the post with some goodies!

…..Outdoor play and hall time.  Bringing our learning outside.  Building galley’s, viking torches, puddle splashing and recycling…..

…..Celebrating Chinese New Year, and Robert Burns.  We made tartan, thistles and had our own Chinese Great Race!…..

….Roleplay, snack shopping and sharing Learning Journals kept us busy and of course, DA OORICKS!  Indie shared her learning from a new Nursery with us, all about the Ooricks.  We read the story and Indie told us how to make an Oorick.  Everyone loved it, made Ooricks then went to the forest to look for Ooricks.  We found lots of clues that they had been there; hats, beds, homes, look-outs, their own garden and much much more!
