Looking at Vincent Van Gogh

P6/7 and P4/5/6 have been making studies of the painting called The Starry Night. The children drew the outline of the painting and added colours using oil pastels. They have captured the movement and expression of the artist’s work. They have been thinking about expressing their feelings using colours.

P5-7 in RSPB Mural at Spiggie Birdhide

Last year in Term 4 2022 P5-7 made drawings of the birds of Spiggie to be included in the mural which has been made by artist Gilly B and Artmachine. All the children’s drawings from their art lessons have been incorporated into the mural with 10 other schools. So pleased to be part of such a beautiful art work. It is definitely worth a look you will be pleasantly surprised – and wonderfully inspired.

P1-4 Visited the Artscool Schools Art Exhibition at Shetland Museum on the 6th December 2022

The children had their weekly art lesson in the Gadderie (Gallery space ) and in the learning room at the Shetland Museum. It was an unique rich learning opportunity to experience an art exhibition of work selected and hung by the art teachers in Shetland. It gives the children an insight into what they are learning in Art and Design and what they can achieve as they build their skills. The exhibition is a glimpse into what happens in  Primary and Secondary schools in Shetland. It is only a small selection of what happens. I hope it will enlighten, encourage and inspire everyone who sees it.  The exhibition is on till the 31st December 22.

P2/3/4 Autumn Colour Term 1 2021

The children have made a tree and selected coloured papers to make their own unique autumn tree. They also made hedgehogs again drawing, again selecting  coloured papers, cutting and creating their collages. I am posting this as I don’t remember sharing this in Term 1 2021.
Art lesson with Mrs Burr

I love the children’s colour arrangements. Well done -it’s good to look back at achievements and be inspired by what you have done. It helps to build more and develop skills.
