🌟 Enterprise Café is Officially Underway! 🌟

Excitement has been building in Primary 1/2 as our Enterprise Café project gets off to a fantastic start (along with Primary 3/4).

Over the past few weeks, our young entrepreneurs have been busy completing application forms, taking part in interviews, and demonstrating their enthusiasm and skills for a variety of important roles. We were so impressed by the confidence, creativity, and teamwork shown by everyone who applied.

Now, the teams have been formed, roles have been assigned, and work is officially underway! From planning and organising to designing and creating, our pupils are already working hard behind the scenes to bring their Enterprise Café to life.

This project provides a wonderful opportunity for children to develop valuable life skills including communication, collaboration, responsibility, and problem-solving…all while having lots of fun along the way.

We can’t wait to share more updates as the project progresses and to see all of their hard work come together. Well done, Primary 1/23/4—we are incredibly proud of your enthusiasm and commitment! ☕✨

We have frogs!!

It has been a super weekend of growing for our tadpoles and we have a few frogs now (and a few more but still with their tales!) A big thanks to Sean for keeping me right on how to look after them so well! Not sure who is more excited… me or the bairns!!

☀️ Sunshine = Outdoor Learning Time! ☀️

When the sun shines in Shetland, we make the very most of it! 🌤️

Our bairns love getting outside to learn, play, explore, and enjoy some fresh air together. From outdoor games and nature walks to creative activities and teamwork challenges, there’s always something exciting happening beyond the classroom walls. Being outdoors helps us stay active, curious, and happy — and it’s a great chance to enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasts! 🌿⚽🎨

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and rosy cheeks as everyone soaked up the sunshine and made wonderful memories together. 🌞😊

We’re always happiest when learning can happen both inside and out!

Folk Festival 🎻🎶

What a fantastic day at school as part of the Folk Festival celebrations! 🎶✨

Our bairns had an amazing time welcoming talented musicians Will Pound and Jenn Butterworth into school today. The halls were filled with music, laughter, and plenty of toe-tapping as pupils joined in, listened, and learned all about playing the guitar and mouth organ. 🎻🎶

A huge thank you to Will and Jenn for inspiring our pupils and sharing such a memorable musical experience with us. 🎶👏

Healthy Breakfast

We were delighted to have our breakfast last Friday morning. The bairns got weetabix, toast and a selection of fruit. It was enjoyed by all.

Term 3 PE

Our January to March term in PE was very busy.  P1/2 did 4 weeks of dance, 2 weeks of handball and 6 weeks of swimming.

Dance

In our dance block, pupils explored how to use movement to express ideas. We focused on:

  • Using imagination and responding to different stimuli
  • Travelling, stillness, shapes, jumps and gestures
  • Changing rhythm, speed, level and direction
  • Repeating patterns in movement
  • Showing expression and confidence

The children had great fun experimenting with creative movement and performing short sequences.

Handball

In handball, we concentrated on building ball control and throwing and catching skills.

Swimming

In the pool the pupils worked on developing their water confidence and front and back crawl.  The class enjoyed the block, working hard and showing good improvements in all their water skills.

Gemma (Jordan’s mam) visits from Specsavers

We were delighted to welcome Gemma to the class on Tuesday afternoon to tell us about her job as an optician and share some interesting facts and some of the cool things that happens when we go for eye tests. The bairns (and staff) thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for coming!
