P1/2/3/4 Class Trip

What an amazing day we had on our class trip yesterday! We packed so much into one day, and the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.

Our morning was spent at Bigton Farm, where we were given a wonderful tour and learned all about life on the farm. The bairns loved meeting the different animals, climbing onto the tractors and quads, enjoying  snack outside and putting their knowledge to the test with a fun quiz. A huge thank you to Helen and Aimee for making us feel so welcome and for providing such a fun-filled, action-packed morning. It was a fantastic experience that the children (and adults) will remember for a long time.

After our busy morning, we headed to Bigton Playpark, where everyone enjoyed their packed lunches before having lots of fun exploring the park and playing together.

To finish off our adventure, we visited St Ninian’s Isle. Although the weather was a little breezy, it certainly didn’t dampen our spirits! There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter and a wonderful sense of adventure as we explored together.

We are incredibly proud of all of the bairns. They were a credit to our school, showing excellent manners, enthusiasm and kindness throughout the day.

Finally, a huge thank you to Mrs Teale, Mrs Bannister, Miss Farmer, Louise and Kay for joining us and helping to make the day such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!

What a brilliant day filled with memories, laughter and lots of fun! 💙

We love kapla… and being outside

What a fantastic time we had with our Kapla yesterday!

The bairns put their teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills to the test as they took on a series of exciting building challenges. First up was the mission to build the tallest tower possible. There were plenty of careful calculations, steady hands and a few dramatic wobbles along the way, but the determination on display was incredible!

Next came the ultimate engineering challenge – building a bridge strong enough to hold Miss Hunter’s weight! The children worked brilliantly together, discussing ideas, testing designs and making improvements as they went. We are delighted to report that several bridges rose to the challenge and proved just how talented our young engineers are!

Once the serious construction work was complete, the bairns let their imaginations run wild. Some created beautiful pieces of artwork using the Kapla blocks, while others designed intricate mazes and puzzles for their friends to solve. It was wonderful to see so much creativity and originality on display.

The children were absolutely brilliant throughout the afternoon. They showed excellent teamwork, resilience when things didn’t quite go to plan, and lots of laughter along the way. We were so proud of how they supported one another, shared ideas and celebrated each other’s successes.

Well done, everyone! O

ur classroom was full of architects, engineers and artists in the making!

Technology Big Question

Our Technology Big Question challenge last week was a fantastic success!

The children were set the task of creating bunting while developing a range of important practical skills. Throughout the activity, they demonstrated excellent perseverance, creativity, and problem-solving as they carefully measured with rulers, practised their cutting skills, used a hole punch accurately, and threaded and sewed different materials together.

It was wonderful to see the children working so independently and supporting one another when needed. We observed great concentration, patience, and resilience, especially when tasks became a little tricky. Many children showed increasing confidence in measuring accurately, handling tools safely, and improving their fine motor skills through threading and sewing.

We were particularly impressed by the care and attention to detail shown in their work. The finished creations were all unique and reflected the children’s creativity and determination.

🌟 Enterprise Café is Officially Underway! 🌟

Excitement has been building in Primary 1/2 as our Enterprise Café project gets off to a fantastic start (along with Primary 3/4).

Over the past few weeks, our young entrepreneurs have been busy completing application forms, taking part in interviews, and demonstrating their enthusiasm and skills for a variety of important roles. We were so impressed by the confidence, creativity, and teamwork shown by everyone who applied.

Now, the teams have been formed, roles have been assigned, and work is officially underway! From planning and organising to designing and creating, our pupils are already working hard behind the scenes to bring their Enterprise Café to life.

This project provides a wonderful opportunity for children to develop valuable life skills including communication, collaboration, responsibility, and problem-solving…all while having lots of fun along the way.

We can’t wait to share more updates as the project progresses and to see all of their hard work come together. Well done, Primary 1/23/4—we are incredibly proud of your enthusiasm and commitment! ☕✨
