We had Eleanor visit us today with a robot called Botley. The primary 2’s were doing Young Leaders with the primary 6’s in the hall so it was a quiet session with the Primary 1’s…who were incredible! We were blown away with how quickly they picked it up but also the suggestions for programming with brilliant. Thanks to Eleanor for coming in. We had a super session!
Polytunnel Visit
Each week, Mr Clark is going to take some bairns from every class to visit the polytunnel that is nearby. This was the first week and it was a great success! Lots of smiles and stories from their visit.
Toys and Timelines
For our Big Question, we have been looking at timelines. The bairns have been incredible and got stuck into a variety of timelines from history to toys. There were smaller timelines and then massive timelines. It has been amazing watching them come together to share their learning as well as the research skills that have been developing. We even had a letter from Charles Darwin asking for their help! A super week!
For our play projects we were looking at toys. We had a mixture of things from Pokemon cards to wooden spoon dolls.
Play Project – People Who Help Us
We have rolled on our play project into another week with the strike days happening and the bairns have been amazing! Both working hard in class and in home!
African Drumming
We had our last session of African drumming this week with Joy! The bairns (and staff) have loved it. The class had the chance to perform in front of the whole school where they played brilliantly! I was so proud of them (as always) as they put on a great show. Big thank you to Joy!
Learner Led Afternoon
Thanks to everyone who came along for our (busy) learner led afternoon today. It was so lovely seeing everyone. (Thanks to Maisie, P2, for taking the photos!)
Harvest Time and Autumn Colours
P1/2 made wheat using drawing and collage to form the shapes. Then they each made a tree using autumn colours. They chose their own colours and using wax crayons- templates to make leaf shapes – collaged their work making beautiful individual works. But together they make a  wonderful and colourful forest.
They have drawn and made collages of hedgehogs and also created mini habitats for their hedgehogs to live in. P 1/2 have worked so  hard and are so enthusiastic and eager to learn. It has been a pleasure to teach them.

Sounds
For our “Big Question” this week – we are looking at sound and I was asked how it travels (great question!) So we looked at the idea of particles all around us and the vibrations causing bumps and it travelling in sound waves! We then did a game where they had to work out what direction the sound was coming from! Great fun was had by all!
Maths outdoors
We did some maths outside. We made a number stair case, multiplication and some tens and units!
