Sports Day

What a super afternoon! The bairns (and staff!) thoroughly enjoyed it! The bairns all did brilliantly and the smiles throughout said it all. A massive thank you to Mrs Ritchie for organising it all! And thanks to everyone who was able to come along and watch!

Final PE round up

We have had a very busy year in the gym, finishing with our sports day yesterday.  I was lucky to be put with them to help Miss Hunter, so saw all their races.  They all did brilliantly.   It’s so nice to see how they have developed over the year.   I was really proud of them all.

We have ended the year in PE doing athletics, building up to sports day and now we are learning rounders and cricket games.

Primary 1/2 Trip to Tesco and the Library

Words by Hendry:

Today we went to Tesco on a bus because it is too far to walk! When we got to Tesco we went upstairs to where the workers eat their denner. Then we went downstairs and we saw lots of food. We had to find what country it came from. Then we went back upstairs for snack! Then we went back on the bus and then we went to the library. We saw some books and then Miss Hunter read us two stories! Then we went back on the bus and then we went to school. I had a great day!

Term 4 – Musical Games

In music, P.1-2 have been learning songs and doing some untuned percussion rhythm and beat activities relating to fairytales and traditional  stories. They have also been playing some musical games:

Big Question/STEM

For our big question we have been looking at materials and what we might use to build different things, i.e. bridges, towers, etc. The bairns were put into teams and had to create a bridge that was the height of a ruler and could hold the weight of a heavy book. The second challenge was to create the tallest tower out of marshmallows and cocktail sticks. Lots of team work, collaboration, critical thinking and communication skills were seen throughout the sessions.

P1/2 – Big Question

“Let’s use our magic pencils to draw a make-believe world! Imagine a land of colourful flowers and talking animals. Draw a big castle with a dragon on top, or maybe a spaceship flying among the stars. You can use paper and crayons, or even a special drawing app on a tablet. What exciting ideas will you sketch into your magical picture?”

Mrs Bannister STEM Challenge

On Tuesday mornings we do some writing and have a chance to go into the hall with Mrs Bannister for some play and STEM challenges. This week looked a whole lot of fun!

Pokemon Club

The lovely Mrs Bannister is running a Pokemon Club for Primary 1 – 3 and it looked like great fun!! A massive thank you to Mrs Bannister for giving up your time to do this!

Miss Baronet’s Big Question

Miss Baronet did a super lesson for our Big Question this week looking at food chains, focusing on photosynthesis, producers and consumers. The bairns got an input along with a video clip before breaking into groups to do food chains using playdough and chalk as well as some planting. A great lesson, enjoyed by all!

Plants Play Project

As well as our visit to Elizabeth’s amazing garden, the bairns have been busy doing a variety of things for their play project! Well done everyone!
