Inheriting Characteristics

We were revisiting a previous big question to see what they children could remember and then build on it and, as always, they did not disappoint!! I gave them a challenge to use what they had learnt to match an unknown celebrity with their children! Every group got it all correct and they were saying things like, “Look at the long nose!” “Let’s look at the eye colour!” and “Look at the shape of their head!” I was super impressed!

Ten Pin Bowling – P2 Maths

Today we were doing our own version of “ten pin bowling.” The bairns would know down their skittles and have to either add or takeaway the numbers… and they didn’t fail to impress! Well done Primary 2!

Some more old toys…

Leon’s mam (Erica) saw we had been doing about old toys and sent in a box of toys… which the bairns (and staff) loved having a look at. Thanks Erica for taking the time to send this in.

Play Projects

Wow! It has been a busy week with the theme “technology” for our play projects. The bairns continue to amaze us every day!

STEM with Eleanor

We were SO lucky to have Eleanor back to do some work with Sphero robots… I did think that this was going to be a little tricky… but they bairns (as always) were amazing!! Lots of fun activities before getting to use the ipad to programme the Sphero robots! A massive thank you to Eleanor for coming to share this with us!

Big Question

We have been looking at the “olden days” and had a look at toys from now and then. The bairns enjoyed watching some videos of old toys being used and had great discussions on differences. They then did some sorting activities. Mrs Bannister then came in with some “old toys” from her childhood (and a thanks to Ashley’s mam, Linda for a bag of toys!) and the bairns all got a go! What a super afternoon! A special thanks to Mrs Bannister/Lewie’s mam!

Blubber Mittens

For our super senses, one of the bairns asked why walruses don’t get cold in the freezing water… so we did a little experiment to find out! We then shared this (along with other experiments) at our assembly.
