Term 3 Week 5

S’up hommies! It’s Ava T here and I have the power of the blog this week.  Mwah, ha, ha, ha!

Maths – Simon Says. This week we played a new version of Simon Says invented by Mrs A. She gave instructions like ‘Simon says what is 5 x 8?’ Then we had to write the answer as fast as possible. The last one to write the answer or if you got it wrong, you were eliminated. I got put out because I wrote a very wonky, unidentifiable number 5!

We’ve also been practicing our Speedy Skills a lot this week with some of us getting very competitive with themselves.

Writing – Alexander Fleming. We did our writing stimulus about Alexander Fleming and he discovered Penicillin after taking a vacay. We wrote our own amazing discovery stories and scientific reports. We wrote the reports step by step with Mrs A which was really clear and helpful to guide us to know what to do for each part. We were given a topic and time to write about that specifically which helped to us all to keep on track. It was good and we want to do more lessons like that. Here are some samples of the writing from our class this week.

Big Question – The Power to Renew. We have been learning about non-renewable and renewable energy sources. Mrs A challenged us to make our own Sustainable cities by using scrap paper and junk modelling resources. My group decided to make Sydney, Australia and obviously, I had to make a solar-powered water slide. Each group created amazing cities.

This or That. Our Culture Crew task this week was to build a model of a European Monument. We decided to make the Eiffel Tower however, its leaning qualities made us realise it should be called ‘The Leaning Tower of Eiffel’! It is still surprisingly upright (although leaning against the window). Other groups worked with Kapla to make amazing monuments. Can you guess what the monuments are?

I hope you have enjoyed reading this blog,

Ava 😁
