Term 4 Week 1

Hello and welcome back to term 4. It’s me, Riley, who is helping Mrs A to write the blog this week.

Morning Movement – Every morning we either do Daily Mile or Just Dance but this week Mrs A found a new challenge to do. We had to do different actions in time with the screen such as jump, duck, smash, dodge and run. I was ready to go back to bed after all the movement! It was tiring but lots of fun!

Speedy Skills – To practice our new speedy skills in maths we played a game of ‘Quick draw’ . Mrs A would say ‘Draw an acute angle’ or ‘Write a number that is prime’ and then we would draw or write our answers within 5 seconds. If we were wrong or didn’t have an answer, we would be out. But if you were the last person standing, you won a prize. Rebekah and Glyn won the prizes today.

Reading – For reading this term we are working on reading stamina. We all choose somewhere that we want to read, get comfy and then have an extended time of reading.

Writing – The Mini World. Our new targets in writing are focused on using a range of descriptive vocabulary and engaging openers. This week we wrote stories about a ‘Mini World’ and had to try and include lots of types of words / phrases (similes, metaphors, alliteration) as well as different openers. Here are a selection of some of the stories written this week.

Big Question – Plants. We have been learning about what makes a plant a plant and it needs uses its leaves to make its own food. Mrs A did some free drawing art with us where we could chose a flower to draw and we got to choose what materials to use as well. Everyone really enjoyed this and the results are brilliant. We then worked in groups to create posters about different types of plants. I worked with Joe and we researched ‘Trees’ and we found out about highly toxic and venomous trees.

This or That. There were lots of people keen to share their independent learning this week so on Friday before lunch some groups presented their research on Rainforests or on Victorian working conditions. It was fantastic to see such a range of things produced by the class.

Thanks for reading our blog this week 😊

Term 3 PE

We had a busy term in PE taking part in Dance, Handball and Badminton.  Throughout the blocks we covered a lot of our benchmarks, but focused on Motivation, Decision Making and Balance and Control.

Here we are in Handball and Badminton.
