Dream

The bare and grey trees suddenly look big to the little log house which sat on the snowy ground.  The mist makes you feel a chilly hand on your back you turn around and see , the Ice queen, she grabs you, takes you to her frosty  palace and she is about to lock you in a freezing cold room. Then you wake up in your bedroom and find out it is all a dream. You look out the window and see the snow has melted and you can see the lush green grass again but you can still hear the faint screams of pain and agony and you think of the Ice queen from your dream.

Janet and the Tree House

A little girl called Janet lived in a tiny house in the middle of the dark, lonely woods. The tiny house was a tree house with a red tiled roof. Janet lived with her auntie Amanda, her mother and father went away to a small island of the coast off Africa and couldn’t take Janet with them. When Janet woke up and looked out the window she saw a flock of geese flying strong over the tree tops.  Amanda came in to say that they would have to move to Africa where Janet’s mum and dad was living because the electricity bill had gone soaring up and she couldn’t afford it. They packed their belongings and got in the creaky wagon. The wagon was very dark so Janet could sleep in it. She grabbed her rag doll that her auntie made for her and went to sleep again.  When they got to the lazy sea they boarded a snug boat and they sailed off. After a 24 hour journey they got to the Africa. Africa was so hot that they had to put there t-shirts on! “I can’t wait to see mum and dad!” exclaimed Janet. “I have hardly seen them!” When they got to the huge house Janet’s parents stayed at, they unloaded the wagon and knocked on the creaky door. Nobody answered; they knocked again still nobody answered. “What are we meant to do now?” asked Janet. “I have no idea!” said Amanda. “We will just have to sleep in the wild!”

The Little Cottage Story Starter

The lonely little old lady in the small cottage heard a ringing of her door bell, so she went to the door to answer it. There was a surprise waiting for her when she opened the door there standing in front of her was a very fat man with a kind of red skin. She stood still as a statue. He went through the door and helped himself to a club chocolate biscuit. The old lady was very mad, one because he had gone with all her clubs and two his mucky boots had left a trail of mud and she didn’t like to clean as her back got awfully sore. He sat by the fire and the old lady was really mad by this point so she roared WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY LITTLE HOME! He gently said I am here to visit you, I am your son remember me, Jamie. Ohhhh I remember now! You’re late, like two years late. Ok…Ok mum. So how’s  things with your brothers? Oh ok except Ben is a bit ill at the moment.

Oh that’s not good. Ah I remember young Benjamin. There was a scream AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

The Snow Story

The grey mist is coming closer in the night sky. There was a little log house up at the top of the hill. Then I can see the frost starting to come I tried to walk up the hill. Then the snow was heavy then I hurt my leg. I tried to climb the hill but it was hard to get up. In the morning I was freezing because I was sleeping in the snow. I was eating my cold breakfast it said on the label  best before the 9th of February 2013. Then I feel a bit pale and I was sick in the snow so I went to the hospital.

African Masks

With Miss Anderson we did African masks because our topic this term is Africa. We had a talk about why they had masks and what they did with them. They used the masks as a sign of their ancestors. They made snort  and grunt noises because that’s the way they thought they  could become their ancestor. We had a go at making our own (but not of our ancestors). Aren’t they fab!

Micro Tyco

As part of our Micro Tyco project Burravoe Primary School had a sale on Friday 16th of November. Micro Tyco is organized by a charity called Wild Hearts. There are Micro Tyco teams all over Britain; they are in 2 groups: schools and businesses and are in competition with each other to see which team can raise the most money. We are the only teams in Shetland! At the sale Team Super Sellers raised £76.75 by baking cakes, Team Space Mountain raised £127.50 by selling Christmas cards and raffle tickets. Team Super Sellers had loads of baking donations from parents, teachers and friends. Both of the teams thank everyone for coming along and for their donations.

The fundraising competition lasted until the end of November. We had a Christmas Sale in the school on Friday 23rd November. There were Christmas cards, Christmas tags, Christmas tree decorations, lip balms, candles and bath things. We sold out of Christmas cards quite fast! All money that was  raised went to Wild Hearts. Micro Tyco was such a successes that they are doing it again this February.

All together we raised over £450!

This is a picture of us with our certificates.

Sumdog

Sumdog is maths. You have to answer questions as quick as you can. You can join classes in your school or play against  people in other schools. There are 8 maths games to play. My favourite game is the tower block. I like the tower block game because  if you get the right answer  you jump up a block.  There is a shop you can buy clothes to put on your sumdog characters. We are paying for the shop to open in school time.

Maths Data Handling

In maths we are doing data handling, we have been using J2e. It is a program that lets you do different stuff. We did different types of charts. Charlotte and I did a chart together. We did  bar charts, block charts and graph chart. It is very useful but we have to be on glow to use J2e. It will be useful for other things as well. Me and Charlotte’s data we collected was what musical instruments people in the school play, piano one!  The options were Fiddle/violin, piano, guitar and bells.

This is a link to my chart.

Jit stands for Junior Infant Tools it is really easy to use that’s why its j2easy which means just 2 easy it’s really fun. We have been looking at block graphs, bar charts, pie charts and line graphs. We have been learning and revising about   tallying. I went  around  the room asking everyone (including the teachers)  whats your favourite food is it Spaghetti bolognasie , Burger and Fries,Stew,Quiche or Bacon Stoveys.Once I had asked everyone including myself  counted up my tallies. Then  I added my data. Here is a link to my bar chart for Burravoe schools favourite foods click on the link to read it.
