I went with my dad to London to get my eyes tested, In the Great Ormond Street Hospital. My Dad realised we still had half an hour till my appointment, so we went to the British Museum for a visit. I got a bit disappointed when I saw that the upstairs exhibition was closed but, I cheered up when I realised that there was loads more exciting things downstairs too. I enjoyed looking at all souvenirs in the shop in the British Museum. We bought an orange crayon for my brother and two papyrus scrolls from the Ancient Egyptian age for my mother. Then we went into another room, in the middle of the room was a stone statue from Easter Island, behind the statue there were old tablets in a glass case people took the tablets when they were ill in the olden times. I didn’t get to see much more because we had to go to the hospital then, to get my eyes tested.

In P.E. this term we have been doing gymnastics. Last week we focused on balance. We had different things that we had to go on. The first thing was a bench hooked up to a padded stool we had to walk up the bench and then we had to balance on the padded stool and then jump of. There was a few kind of ones like that. and then there were ones with spring boards at the beginning. For that you had to jump on the spring board and onto the padded stool,do a balance and then you had to jump of. The week before that we were in pairs and made short routines, I was with Emer.

Since the summer I have been training with Shetland Gymnastics Club. I have done 1 competition so far but I am going to do another one soon. It is in Inverurie. Anyone who got a medal at the competition in November, will be coming to the competition. There is also a presentation that we’re doing. We have to learn some routines. We need more time to learn our routines so we are going to start at 4 not 5. We are not going to do it normal training because we are training for 2 things at once. I am very excited for going to Inverurie because it will be my first time visiting there.

We have recently started learning about the Arctic and the Arctic circle. The younger ones did about some of the animals. The older ones picked and animal and then wrote a fact about that animal. We then had a few minutes to write down some animals we knew of in the Arctic and the Arctic circle.
We are going to learn about some of the countries inside the Arctic circle. We looked at globes to see which countries were inside the Arctic circle.

We performed a play we wrote last night in St. Colman’s Kirk. It was called Saving Christmas.
(Thank you to everyone who came to watch and thank you for your generous contributions to our collection – we raised £130 for Save the Children. – Ms Breyley)

I go to Lerwick to do ballet every Sunday. For this year’s Christmas Play we’re doing Midsummer Night’s Dream and I’m a fairy, I really enjoy being a fairy. I’ve just got my costume this week. My costume is yellow with all sorts of roses that have different colours. I don’t known any of the names for the moves I do. This Tuesday it was the last rehearsal and it was the only rehearsal with our costumes, and the only rehearsal with our makeup, it’s so exciting. We’re doing two shows. One is this Friday and the other is this Saturday.

We went to Small School Sports. We did bowls. We did practices before we did a competition. We learned how to hold a bowl. We let go of the bowls. I learned to roll the bowls properly. We threw the jack and place it anywhere. We went both sides in the rink. We did boys and girls to see who is the best at bowls. I threw the jack to its place. We had the black and brown bowls. The bowls were big. I learned how to use the bowls. We laid down the starting point. We lay down the starting point. I learned how to hold the bowl. I learned that to make sure that the bowls go by the jack to score a point. I learned to always not to throw it hard. The boys had 4 bowls and the girls had 6 bowls. We had to aim for the jack. I got better at how to play bowls.

Taekwondo was the first activity at Small School Sports it was so exciting, because I have never been before! The Taekwondo teacher was called Pio, he comes from Barcelona. At Taekwondo we started with a warm up, after the warm up we tried out some Taekwondo moves. When we knew some of the Taekwondo moves, Pio took out two clappy things and told us to kick them, after kicking our feet hurt a bit. Then he gave all of us a cushion to kick on it we took it in turns for kicking the cushion. Then Pio said that it was the end of this activity so we moved on another activity. I really enjoyed doing this activity, my favorite thing in this activity was kicking the clappy boards.

On Tuesdays I go swimming with Lily. At swimming the first thing we do is the beans game. It is when Nala says do a string bean then you have to stretch as tall as you can. After that we walk in a line at the wall and we walk to the deep bit and we do normal swimming with one or two boards and I swim with one board. We also do swimming on our back and I do that with two boards. We do push and glides too and then we do jumping in and then we go back in the shallow end and pick up hoops. Then we have playtime and Nala gets a watering can and fills it up with water and pours it on our head! Then we get out out of the pool and have a shower get changed and go home.

On Thursday we went to school sports in Lerwick and it was REALLY fun. When we got there we had to be put into groups. Each group had a different team colour to tell us apart. Neil, Sonia, Rosie and I were on the orange team and Phoebe, Bradley and Honor were in the blue team. There were 5 sports in small school sports that you could do. But each team only did 4 sports. My team didn’t do Boccaio and Honor’s team didn’t do taekwondo. The 5 sports were taekwondo, rugby, boccia, bowls and athletics. Athletics was my favourite. There was 3 things in athletics that you could do Running, Jumping and Throwing. We got split into groups within our orange group. First the group that I was in did Throwing. You had to throw the ball behind your back as far as you could. There was cones set out to measure how far you got I got 8/12 next my group did Running and I LOVED that part of it you had to run as fast as you could over hurdles it was AMAZING Then we did Jumping it was basically like Running only with more hurdles and the hurdles were closer together. Overall it was SO FUN.
