On Tuesday we did Rubbings. The first thing we do is get a piece of paper and get something that has a rough surface. put it under the piece of paper, and then you get a Crayons and draw on top of it, then you should see the rough bit. I used Lego, and i thought it was really fun.

We got a flu spray thingy up our noses to prevent flu.We got a sticker each.They said two things. One says “I’m a Flu Fighter”. The other says “Keep Flu Out”. The people that did it said it might make our noses runny.

On Wednesday the 15/11/17 we went to our nearest hall, The Burravoe Hall, to play bowls. John, who came to do bowls with us; set out 7 discs; we had to pick up one each and see what it said on it. I was on the black team and I played second in the team. At the end, it turned out that it was a draw between the two teams.

On the 10/11/17 we did hand washing with Mrs. Doull. We did raps with it as well we watched our old ones when I was P3 and now I’m P6. First when we wash our hands then we rinse then you put the soap on instead of the other way around then you put your fingers on the back of your hand and rub back and forth and the same on the other hands.

This term we are learning about authors and illustrators. I am doing Lydia Monks as my author and illustrator. We were writing some of the books that our author or illustrator has written or drawn. Then we found out a bit about there biography (that means their life). After that we did a drawing of one of their characters from one of their books that they did. I did the Singing Mermaid from the book the Singing Mermaid. I think that my pictures it looks good!

This term we are doing a project on authors and illustrators, the author or illustrator to research about was our choice. I chose Steven Butler the author of the Diary of Dennis the Menace books, the illustrator of the books is Steve May. On Tuesday we drew pictures/characters from our books we either copied them from a how to draw video on YouTube or we made up a character but from their style of drawing. I drew Gnasher a character who’s a dog in the books. I really enjoyed drawing Gnasher because he has really messy fur and that was my favourite part to do.

On Wednesday we did an Authors Live with Kes Gray. He read us a story called Oi Frog and Oi Dog. He talked to us about his biscuit super powers he could defeat bad guys. He showed us when he was a baby he was born with a mustache and glasses and it kept growing longer and he had milk in it then he had to cut it off. It was a really good one even though it is for P1 – P3 and I’m P6.

When I came back from from holiday I brought back a fruit called pomelo, we were going to eat it on the first day back but then there wasn’t time so we ate the other treat I brought from Romania. The next day We ate the pomelo for piece and people who didn’t like it or didn’t want more had a different fruit but we all tried it. Pomelos are citrus fruits. The have a yellow peel and a lot of pith. Underneath is the segments, on the segment is a skin, you have to peel the skin before you eat it as well as the pith.

On Friday I went to the Hallowe’en party. We did some games when you try to eat a doughnut or a marshmallow from a string but you can’t use your hands. We did musical statues and another game when we danced to music and when it stopped you had to run to a corner with a Hallowe’en character on paper, someone mixed up the same pieces of paper that were on the walls and they chose one character and whatever was on that the people at that picture would be out. We also did the game when We got Turnip, Potatoes and Beans after we got drinks too.

On Friday it was the Hallowe’en party. We played musical bumps. we played it but nobody could get out so we played musical statues. Some more people got out but still so many were in.So we stopped playing musical statues and danced. Then we did the prize for the costumes. I won a prize for my costume I was a skeleton for the party. For the pumpkin competition I also won a prize. We played corners. Thats the game when you dance and when the music stopped we had to go to a corner with a picture on the wall. A person would show everybody and the person at that corner and that person would be out. We had tea at nearly at the end. At the end we did the raffle. I enjoyed it.

Every week for last term in our music lessons, we were going through a story which was called Peter and the Wolf, after we mostly memorized it we planned a performance, that was going to be filmed. First we decided who is going to be which character. Next week we thought what costumes we would need, and were could we get them from. Then we played our parts in the story, but unluckily when we had a look at our film, we realized, that our music teacher,Mrs Leslie, had filmed it in fast motion by accident, so we had to do it all over again, although we didn’t really mind anyway. Now we did it the second time and this time, it worked!

At the weekend I was playing with Owllete. Owllete was playing with the other owls the other were a colourfull owl and a snowy owl the colourfull owl was called colourfull and the snowy owl was called snowy owl and they were all playing catchy snowy owl was the catcher and she was trying to catch them and then they both had to catch owllete but she was far to fast and they were all flying around the room playing catchy all day and they really liked playing catchy in there house and it was raining outside and there burn was very high because they had to much rain that came down that day and owllete said they could not go outside because they were to much and the wind was blowing far to fast and they get blowing away and there house was in a tree and there pets were scared of the rain and wind and they were in there house to and the owls were to look out of there tree window because they were scared of the rain and the wind

On 22/9/17 we went on a school trip to the Marts in Lerwick, It was a lamb sale so they only sold lambs. The reason why we went to the marts was because we are doing a project called food for thought and we thought it would be a good idea to go there on a school trip. When we arrived at the marts we went straight into the place where they were selling the lambs so that we could get a seat. We all had share a sheet which showed us what lambs were coming in and who their owners where. It was meant to start at 10 but it only started at half 10. It started of with the sheep coming into the ring through one gate and there was a man called Morgan chasing the sheep so that the bidders could see them from different angles, at the same time the auctioneer was trying to sell the sheep and you couldn’t really keep track of what he was saying because he was saying it so fast, When the sheep had been sold then the auctioneer banged a stick onto a piece of wood so that everyone knew that the sheep were sold, Then the sheep were chased out of another gate ready to go to their new home.

We did baking for the Coffee afternoon. We also used local produce. The local produce we used is cream, buttermilk and milk from Shetland Dairies. I learned that to weigh cups of flour.

This term we have been doing the Food For Thought project. Jennifer from Quality Meat Scotland sent us some posters about cuts of meat from pigs, cows and sheep. It is useful because we can see how many cuts of meat there is in one animal.
