The Bad Morning Performance

On Saturday night at the Burravoe Hall we took part in the premier of The Bad Morning which is based on The Gloup Disaster. Pete Sharkey wrote the music and put the performance together. Mr Sharkey sent the music to us and we wrote the lyrics to fit the tune. We decided that the tune was a lullaby and we collaborated to write My Peerie Baby. Cullivoe School also sang a song they had written about the disaster and the resilience that Yell showed afterwards. The Shanty Yellmen sang Da Sang O Da Papa Men and The Unst Boat Song in the production. Pete read stories about The Gloup Disaster which he had found in the Shetland Archives. There were Musicians and they played some music while there was a slideshow of photos of Gloup playing. We liked it.

  1. Hi Kerry,

My Glow account has been fixed so I can finally leave comments on your posts!

Looks like The Bad Morning was a successful production!

Is the project finished now or do you have to do follow up work now? Do you think you will be posting any videos from the performance? I would love to hear the lyrics to the song you all wrote.
