EYC Curriculum

Maidens Early Years Centre follows Scotland’s national curriculum, Curriculum for Excellence (CfE). This provides a coherent, flexible and enriched curriculum from children and young people aged 3 to 18.

The curriculum aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need to flourish in life, learning and work. The knowledge, skills and attributes learners will develop will allow them to demonstrate four key capacities – to be successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Children in early years education start their journey through CfE at the Early Level. During their early years education, they will be provided with many opportunities for learning through play across the following subject areas:

Health & Wellbeing

Literacy

Numeracy

Social Subjects

Sciences

Technology

Expressive Arts

Religious and Moral Education (RME)

Indoor and outdoor learning experiences take place throughout the year and, at Maidens, we are keen to make the most of outdoor learning. As well as a purpose built indoor environment, our outdoor area lends itself to delivering opportunities for learning across all areas so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for all weathers.
